  • Publication number: 20040200245
Abstract: An improved washing machine is provided with a water delivery system formed into the lid for delivering water to various additive compartments. A detergent compartment is formed in the lid, and the water delivery system includes outlet holes for flushing detergent from the detergent compartment. A bleach compartment and a fabric softener compartment are provided in the cabinet, with the water delivery system having outlets for flushing bleach and fabric softener from these compartments. • Patent number: 5299586
Abstract: A dishwasher tub includes a bottom wall having a sump basin formed therein for containing a reservoir of washing fluid. The sump basin has an upper rim having a rear portion spaced inwardly from the rear edge of the bottom wall, opposite side portions spaced inwardly from the opposite side edges of the bottom wall, and a front portion spaced inwardly from the front edge of the bottom wall. The rim of the sump forms two spaced apart leg portions of the basin which extend forwardly into close proximity to the front spaced apart corners of the front wall of the tub. In addition to the sump basin, the bottom wall includes front, rear, and opposite side margins sloping upwardly from the rim of the sump basin to the rear, side, and front walls of the dishwasher tub. The resulting sump basin has a horseshoe-shaped configuration.

  • Patent number: 5267582
Abstract: A wash arm construction for a dishwasher includes an elongated wash arm having a hollow spray cavity contained therein. Within the spray cavity are one or more subcompartments which have inlet openings providing communication from the spray cavity into the subcompartment. A first group of these spray openings is in direct communication with the spray cavity, and a second group of openings is in direct communication with the subcompartments. The size of the openings to the subcompartments from the spray cavity cause a lower spray pressure to be achieved within the subcompartments than is achieved in the spray cavity.

  • Patent number: 5205419
Abstract: A dishwasher having a unique racking system mounted therein is provided. The dish racking system includes a lower rack having a side wall extending substantially higher than the front, rear and other side walls to define a protective barrier between a side panel of the washing chamber and various large articles placed adjacent the side wall for washing. An upper rack is supported above the lower rack. The upper rack has a bottom support means including at least one upwardly stepped portion adjacent the high side wall of the lower rack. A pivotal shelf is located generally intermediate the bottom support wall and the upper edge of the high side wall of the lower rack. A pivotal shelf can be similarly provided in the upper rack.
