  • Publication number: 20090307031
Abstract: Presented is a system and method of providing centralized management and analysis of fleet information. The system includes a centralized fleet information management server accessible via a communications network to thin clients. The communications network may be the Internet, and the thin clients are required to have only a web browser application to fully access the functionality of the server. A portable computing device, such as a Windows CE or Palm compatible device, may be used with an installed application program to conduct on-site, off-line inspections. The portable device includes a local database that may be populated with fleet information downloaded from the fleet information management server. Upon completion of the on-site inspection, the data stored in the local database may be uploaded to the server. The server may be used by thin clients to generate various reports based on the fleet data, including the estimation of operating cost savings.

  • Patent number: 6204899
Abstract: The invention teaches methods whereby the lighting efficiency of many lighted displays, including liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs) are increased by an order of magnitude through the use of chiral nematic liquid crystal materials incorporated into the light pipes of the displays. The light pipe technology also enables a practical embodiment of the stereoscopic display of Venolia. These methods are also applied to the fabrication of lighted signs for advertising and status indicators in hostile environments. The technology of the light pipes is also applied to the creation of a novel art medium.

  • Patent number: 5841494
Abstract: A transflective Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) system is described, wherein the half silvered mirror is replaced by Chiral Liquid Crystal (CLC) reflectors/filters, which increase the reflected and transmitted brightness from over two times to as much as ten times. These principles are also applied to create an improved efficiency full color transflective LCD and a number of high brightness, limited color, displays.

  • Patent number: 5835166
Abstract: Monocular and stereoscopic color display systems, wherein passive cholesteric liquid crystal (LC) filter/mirrors and active variable retarder type LC arrays are used in combination to produce low cost, high resolution, multicolor and full color displays, suitable for use as advertising, automotive, aircraft, computer, games and electron instrumentation displays.

  • Patent number: 5699184
Abstract: Methods for presenting stereoscopic hardcopy and ethereal displays, using chiral liquid crystal materials are presented. The methods include displays of polarization encoded mixed images, which allow low repetition rate stereoscopic displays, compatible with current broadcast and motion picture standards.

  • Patent number: 5692226
Abstract: Methods of recording and analyzing stereoscopic displays using chiral liquid crystal materials are presented. The methods include cameras that encode stereoscopic pictures in both the film and video formats.

  • Patent number: 5499243
Abstract: To efficiently coordinate the transmission of information from a plurality of radios to a base station on the forward channel of an RF channel, transmission time on the forward channel is scheduled by the base. To be allowed to transmit information on the forward channel, a radio first sends a request frame to the base to request permission to access the forward channel. After sending the request frame, the radio waits for the base to assign it a reserved information time slot. Only if an information time slot is reserved, and only during that reserved time slot, may the radio send an information frame on the forward channel. In determining whether to reserve an information time slot for the radio, the base station takes into consideration the priority of the radio. This allows the base station to better coordinate signal activity on the forward channel. Since transmission time on the forward channel is scheduled, conflicting transmissions are minimized.

  • Patent number: 5398131
Abstract: A full color stereoscopic hard copy is printed using a first group of color inks that reflect one handedness of circularly polarized light and a second group of color inks that reflect the opposite handedness of circularly polarized light. One image of a stereo pair is printed using the first group of inks and the other of the stereo pair is printed using the second group of inks.

  • Patent number: 4147988
Abstract: An electron beam scan conversion method and apparatus based on the gain recovery or "dead" time characteristic of channel electron multipliers. The waveform of an electrical signal is written on the input face of a channel multiplier plate with an electron beam. Then, within the dead time of the written channels (typically about 1-100 msec.), the plate's input face is scanned in a predetermined raster pattern with a constant current beam. During the scanning step, an output signal is derived that corresponds to the difference in emission in response to the scanning beam between the channels in the written area of the plate and those outside that area.
