Patent number: 11989984Abstract: Secure passcode-triggered wireless communication pairing of a mobile device with an electronic lock is provided. The passcode is a limited-use (e.g., one time use, useful for a limited time span) pairing passcode that may be generated at the electronic lock or by an application executing on an administrative user's mobile device that can be communicated to a guest user as part of an invitation to connect to the electronic lock. The pairing passcode is not a lock actuation passcode and cannot be used to actuate the electronic lock from a locked to an unlocked position. Rather, the pairing passcode enables the guest user to pair a mobile device with the electronic lock and, once paired, to use an application executing on the guest user's mobile device to actuate the electronic lock.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2021Date of Patent: May 21, 2024Assignee: ASSA ABLOY Americas Residential Inc.Inventors: Derek Imanuel, Kevin Pasma

ESTABLISHMENT OF SECURE BLUETOOTH CONNECTION TO INTERNET OF THINGS DEVICES, SUCH AS ELECTRONIC LOCKS
Publication number: 20240096154Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for managing secure connection between a mobile device and an Internet of things device, such as an electronic lock. In some instances, a mutual authentication process is performed, and public keys are exchanged. Once keys are exchanged, subsequent communication between the devices may be encrypted using a shared key generated using the exchanged keys.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 29, 2023Publication date: March 21, 2024Inventor: Derek Imanuel -
Patent number: 11893850Abstract: A wireless electronic lockset comprising a processing unit, a locking bolt, a motor, a wireless communication tag, and a wireless interface is disclosed. The lockset is capable of connecting to a mobile device via a first communication protocol and/or a second communication protocol. The lockset sends a value to the mobile device via the first communication protocol and receives an actuation command via the second communication protocol if the mobile device has been verified by a server. The actuation command causes the lockset to lock or unlock the door.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2022Date of Patent: February 6, 2024Assignee: ASSA ABLOY Americas Residential Inc.Inventor: Derek Imanuel
