  • Publication number: 20230174056
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a dynamic distance estimation output platform that utilizes improved computer vision and perspective transformation techniques to determine vehicle proximities from video footage. A computing platform may receive, from a visible light camera located in a first vehicle, a video output showing a second vehicle that is in front of the first vehicle. The computing platform may determine a longitudinal distance between the first vehicle and the second vehicle by determining an orthogonal distance between a center-of-projection corresponding to the visible light camera, and an intersection of a backside plane of the second vehicle and ground below the second vehicle. The computing platform may send, to an autonomous vehicle control system, a distance estimation output corresponding to the longitudinal distance, which may cause the autonomous vehicle control system to perform vehicle control actions.

  • Patent number: 11150379
Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses for improved weather forecasting using satellite data are described in this publication. The conventional predictions that are utilized for the generation of weather forecasts are commonly based on large-scale weather formations. Such formations are typically directed to large geographical regions of a state, province, or country, and thus may not be accurate for smaller geographical regions. The disclosed techniques and apparatuses utilize satellite data for a macro-location, and mobile-sensor data from mobile devices within that macro-location, to provide improved macro-location weather forecasting.

  • Patent number: 11067308
Abstract: A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system for regulating humidity of an enclosed space. The HVAC system includes an evaporator coil. A metering device is fluidly coupled to the evaporator coil. A variable-speed compressor is fluidly coupled to the condenser coil and the evaporator coil and a controller is operatively coupled to the variable-speed compressor. A humidity sensor is operatively coupled to the controller and exposed to the enclosed space. Responsive to a determination that the relative humidity of the enclosed space exceeds the maximum humidity threshold, the controller adjusts a speed of the variable-speed compressor to increase latent capacity of the HVAC system. Responsive to a determination that the relative humidity of the enclosed space falls below the minimum humidity threshold, the controller adjusts a speed of the variable-speed compressor to decrease latent capacity of the HVAC system.

  • Patent number: 10712037
Abstract: According to certain embodiments, operating an HVAC system comprises receiving zone temperature data from a temperature sensor, zone humidity-ratio data from a humidity sensor, a temperature set point from a user, and a relative-humidity set point from a user. A humidity-ratio set point is determined based on the temperature and relative-humidity set points. A first command to the HVAC system to perform a cooling operation is communicated upon determining that the temperature data exceeds a temperature threshold based on the temperature set point. Determining if the humidity data has reached a humidity-ratio threshold based on the humidity-ratio set point after determining that the temperature data has reached the temperature threshold. Operating the HVAC system according to a dehumidification-based cooling procedure upon determining that the humidity data has not reached the humidity-ratio threshold.

  • Patent number: 10641516
Abstract: The HVAC system includes an evaporator coil and a metering device fluidly coupled to the evaporator coil via a distribution line. The HVAC system includes a variable-speed circulation fan for circulating air around the evaporator coil. A temperature sensor is thermally exposed to the distribution line. At least one controller is operatively coupled to the temperature sensor and to the variable-speed circulation fan. The at least one controller adjusts a speed of the variable-speed circulation fan to increase latent capacity of the HVAC system responsive to a determination that a temperature of fluid in the distribution line exceeds an optimal distribution line temperature.

  • Patent number: 9563760
Abstract: A client device captures biometric data from a user and stores the biometric data to identify the user. To simplify access to content from a content source, the user identifies the content source to the client device, which identifies authentication information associated with the user by the content source. For example, the user specifies a username and password associated with the content source to the client device. The authentication information is stored in the client device using the user's biometric data. For example, the client device stores the authentication information so it is not accessible unless the client device receives the user's biometric data. When the user subsequently requests access to the content source, the user provides biometric data to the client device, which retrieves and communicates the authentication information to the content source.
