  • Publication number: 20100225248
Abstract: A visor vanity including a visor body for a vehicle having an electrical system is provided. The visor body includes a visor mirror, at least one light source, a switch, a regulator circuit and a timer. The switch causes at least one energy source that is independent of the electrical system of the vehicle to generate a first voltage signal. The regulator circuit is operably coupled to the switch and to the energy source for transmitting a second voltage signal in response to the first voltage signal so that the light source receives the second voltage signal. The timer is powered by the energy source for causing the regulator circuit to disable the operation of transmitting the second voltage signal in response to the timer achieving a predetermined count value.

  • Publication number: 20090160208
Abstract: A visor support is disclosed with a support arm and a rotation control member. The support arm is adapted to support a visor body and has a first end adapted to be mounted in a vehicle. The support arm has a tapered portion near a second end of the support arm and a ring proximate to the tapered portion. The rotation control member has at least one wall with at least one aperture therein. The rotation control member has a tapered receptacle aligned with the at least one aperture. The rotation control member is rotatable about a linear axis of the support arm such that the tapered portion and the tapered receptacle cooperate to prevent rotation of the support arm absent an external force. The ring cooperates with the rotation control block to at least retain the support arm within the rotation control member.

  • Publication number: 20090066109
Abstract: A sun visor vanity assembly is provided including a visor element and a clamshell element positioned within. A power wire harness is mounted on the clamshell element as well as a vanity frame. A conductive hinge element is mounted between the vanity frame and the external surface and includes a spring body, at least one direct connect arm electrically engaging the power harness, and a flexible spring door arm. A vanity door includes a hinge engagement element rotatably engaging the flexible spring door arm and is movable between a door open position and a door closed position. A vanity light element is mounted into the vanity door body and is in electrical communication with the flexible spring door arm when in the door open position.

  • Patent number: 6598928
Abstract: A sun visor assembly is provided that includes a core having a peripheral edge and a foundation folded over the core and fastened to itself to secure the core substantially within the foundation. The core includes a stiffening member and a frame member having an integrally formed pin member to detachably secure the sun visor to a retainer clip. At least a portion of the foundation extends beyond the peripheral edge of the core to define an edge of the sun visor. An upholstery cover is provided over the foundation and forms an exterior surface of the sun visor. In relatively long sun visors, the integrally formed pin member advantageously provides the structural integrity needed to substantially prevent torsional deformation of the sun visor assembly as it is moved from a storage position adjacent a vehicle headliner to a use position adjacent the vehicle windshield.

  • Patent number: 6595571
Abstract: A sun visor mounting assembly for mounting a sun visor to a vehicle panel is provided that includes a mounting component, a bezel component and an elbow connectable with the sun visor. The mounting component is mountable to the panel and includes a plurality of spaced apart towers separated by sidewalls. Each tower includes an end surface that engages a face of the panel and each sidewall includes a resilient retaining member extending therefrom. Each retaining member includes a catch, wherein the opposing faces of the panel are gripped between the catch and the towers to retain the mounting component against the panel. The bezel component is connected to the mounting component and defines an opening within which the elbow is rotatably received. The preferred methods of securing the mounting assembly to a vehicle are also disclosed.
