  • Patent number: 6315236
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for guiding and cutting a continuously advancing yarn during a package doff in a takeup device. In this connection, a movable yarn guide guides the yarn substantially parallel to a package or a winding tube, which is driven by a drive roll. The yarn guide is followed by a suction device, which consists of a pneumatic suction inlet end and a cutting device. The suction device cooperates with a transfer device for purposes of cutting the yarn during the package doff and receiving the loose end of the advancing yarn. To protect the yarn during the package doff, the yarn guide extends in the yarn path upstream of the driven tube, and the suction device downstream thereof.

  • Patent number: 6189826
Abstract: An apparatus and method for guiding and cutting a continuously advancing yarn during a package doff in a yarn winding apparatus wherein the advancing yarn is wound on a driven bobbin tube. In this process, the yarn is guided by means of a movable yarn guide along a direction substantially parallel to the axis of the tube. Downstream of the yarn guide, a suction device is arranged, which includes a pneumatic suction inlet end and a cutter. The suction device cooperates with a transfer device, so as to cut the yarn during the package doff and receive the loose end of the advancing yarn. To facilitate a protective processing of the yarn during the package doff, during the catching, and during the winding of initial layers on a tube driven by a drive roll, the yarn guide is arranged in the path of the yarn upstream of the driven tube and the suction device downstream of the driven tube.

  • Patent number: 6145775
Abstract: A yarn winding apparatus and a method for winding a continuously advancing yarn on a driven tube. A bobbin tube is clamped between two clamping plates that are rotatably supported on a package holder, and one of the clamping plates includes in its front edge facing the tube a catching slot with a catching nose that is directed in the direction of rotation, and a clamping slot for clamping the yarn. For purposes of threadup, the yarn is guided by a yarn guide and a suction device to the front edge of the clamping plate in such a manner that the yarn and the clamping plate move essentially in the same direction. To guide the yarn after having dropped into the catching slot, reliably to a lead-in plane of the clamping slot, the clamping plate has in its front edge a recess which undercuts the catching nose and the catching slot and forms a guiding edge on the edge of the clamping plate.

  • Patent number: 6045081
Abstract: A method and apparatus for winding a continuously advancing yarn at a constant winding speed to form a cross-wound package on a driven tube. During thread-up of the yarn onto the tube, the yarn is caught outside of the winding range in a catching device rotating at the rotational speed of the tube, and initial layers of the yarn are then wound on the tube. The yarn is guided by a movable yarn guide, which is connected to a drive, and the movement of the yarn guide is controlled as a function of the rotational speed of the tube such that upon reaching the winding speed the yarn is caught and the initial layers thereof are wound. To this end, the rotational speed of the tube is sensed by means of a sensor and supplied to a controller that controls the drive of the yarn guide.

  • Patent number: 4803915
Abstract: A yarn false twisting apparatus is disclosed which comprises a pair of rotating circular discs having cooperating friction surfaces for engaging a running yarn at a twisting zone. A pressure applying member is positioned to apply a biasing force to the rear surface of one of the discs locally at the twisting zone, and the pressure applying member comprises a receptacle slideably mounting a piston which extends from the end of the receptacle to engage the disc. The receptacle is eccentrically mounted to permit selective positioning of the biasing force with respect to the yarn path of travel. The discs are mounted on pivotal rocking arms whereby the ratio of yarn twist to yarn speed may be adjusted, and an eccentrically mounted pin provides closely controlled adjustability for the arms and thus the twist ratio.

  • Patent number: 4624103
Abstract: A yarn false twisting apparatus is disclosed which comprises a pair of rotating circular discs having cooperating friction surfaces for engaging a running yarn at a twisting zone. The drive system for the discs includes a drive component which includes a drive whorl and a coaxial drive pulley, and which is adapted to engage two separate drive belts. The drive component includes a unitary tubular drive member, a central shaft extending through and fixed to the drive member, a sleeve mounted to the frame of the apparatus and extending between the shaft and drive member, and bearings positioned between the shaft and sleeve. Also, the drive component is mounted to the frame by an arrangement which permits adjustment of the rotational axis of the drive whorl about a second axis which perpendicularly intersects the rotational axis, so as to permit accurate alignment of the rotational axis of the whorl along a direction perpendicular to the running direction of the tangential drive belt.

  • Patent number: 4611767
Abstract: A yarn winding apparatus is disclosed which includes means for facilitating the doffing of relatively large, heavy packages. The apparatus includes a U-shaped package holder having a pair of parallel arms, and a pair of mounting discs are mounted adjacent the free ends of the arms for mounting a bobbin tube therebetween. A package guide member is also mounted to the arms of the holder, with the guide member including a pair of tracks which are adapted to be positioned so as to underlie the ends of the bobbin tube and extend slightly downwardly toward the front of the machine. Control means are also provided for axially separating the mounting discs, to release the ends of the bobbin tube, and so that a full package may be released from the package holder. The package is then adapted to fall onto the tracks of the guide member, and roll forwardly along the tracks to a readily accessible position adjacent the front of the machine.

  • Patent number: 4372106
Abstract: A drive system for a yarn false twisting apparatus is disclosed which may be readily converted to produce either S or Z twist, and which insures adequate tension of the drive belt. The apparatus comprises a pair of twist imparting members, and a drive belt system for rotating the twist imparting members which comprises a drive whorl positioned to engage a tangential belt, and a series of pulleys having a drive belt entrained thereabout for rotatably interconnecting the whorl and twist imparting members. The whorl and one of the pulleys are mounted coaxially on a whorl support member, which may be selectively positioned in one of two operating positions to place the whorl on opposite sides of the tangential belt. Another of the pulleys is an idler pulley, which is adjustably mounted for movement in a direction perpendicular to the yarn path of travel and so as to permit maintenance of an adequate tension on the drive belt.
