  • Publication number: 20070241599
Abstract: A chair support arrangement for permitting tilting of a chair seat and chair back assembly by a sitter thereon. The assembly comprises a chair base having a chair support arm extending therefrom, and a flexpad support arrangement secured to the chair support arm. The flexpad support arrangement comprises a compressible pad having compressible contoured portions to facilitate yielding of the flexpad and tilting of the chair seat and chair back assembly. The compressible contoured portions comprise a front edge and a rear edge of said flexpad. The contours may be comprised of an array of furrows parallel to one another and to the upper and lower surfaces of the pad.

  • Publication number: 20020105220
Abstract: A fabric suspension and replacement arrangement for a chair assembly. The chair assembly comprises at least a seat frame supported on a pedestal. The fabric suspension and replacement arrangement comprises an extruded peripheral member arranged for attachment to the frame of the chair assembly. The extruded peripheral member defines a central portion with a web of flexible material disposed thereacross. A lip member extends off of the seat frame to receivingly engage the extruded peripheral member to support the peripheral member therearound and thereby support the web of flexible material on the frame.

  • Patent number: 5826940
Abstract: The present apparatus comprises a multi-position chair assembly for the full back and bottom support of a user through a range of sitting postures, including a movable lower bottom support panel secured to a hub and column, by an adjustment control mechanism, and a back support panel pivotably secured to the hub by a frame struts connected to the hub and to the back support panel, the lower bottom support panel and the back panel having a linkage therebetween to permit corresponding posture supportive tilting of the back support panel depending upon the user position-induced tilting of the lower bottom support panel.

  • Patent number: 5649740
Abstract: The present apparatus comprises a manually adjustable tilt control mechanism which permits adjustable control of the front to back tilt of a chair assembly on a support frame, including a chair assembly having a lowermost seat portion, a column and forwardly extending support arm, for supporting the chair seat portion, a pair of dissimilarly sized resilient blocks, disposed between the end of the support arm and the bottom side of the chair seat portion. The resilient blocks may be adjustably compressed or decompressed between the bottom of the seat portion and the support arm, to adjust the tiltability of the seat.

  • Patent number: 4871208
Abstract: A manually adjustable tilt control mechanism for a seat assembly arranged upon a frame support. The tilt control mechanism comprises a resilient block of material adjustably disposed between a pair of plates which are connected by a longitudinally adjustable bolt. Manual rotation of an adjustment knob effectuates compression or decompression of the resilient block between the upper and lower plates. The chain assembly being attached to the upper plate is infinitely tiltable in a full range from front to back and side to side, or any combination thereof, depending upon how much the resiliency of the block is permitted by its compression between the upper and lower plates.
