  • Patent number: 7935508
Abstract: A higher-yielding process for the production of monoglycerides in which triglycerides are enzymatically reacted with a catalytic amount of an esterase, preferably lipase, that has been activated by the addition of alkaline salts, in the presence of linear or branched alcohols containing 1 to 8 carbon atoms, then the esterase may be deactivated and it and the remaining alcohol removed, with the monoglycerides thus produced useful in lubricants, fuel additives, and emulsifying constituents in foods, and cosmetic and/or pharmaceutical formulations.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 10, 2006
Date of Patent: May 3, 2011
    Assignee: Cognis IP Management GmbH
Inventors: Ulrich Schörken, Sabine Both, Frank Bongardt, Diana Stuhlmann
  • Patent number: 7799544
Abstract: A composition comprising alkyl esters, with a C1-C8 alkyl group, and partial glycerides, with a free glycerol content of, at most, 2%, by weight, based on the weight of the composition, derived in an enzymatically-catalyzed reaction from saturated or unsaturated, straight or branched C8-C22 fatty acids of vegetable oils, and useful, inter alia, in biofuels, such as biodiesel, and as an additive for improving the lubricating performance of fuel compositions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 10, 2006
Date of Patent: September 21, 2010
    Assignee: Cognis IP Management GmbH
Inventors: Ulrich Schörken, Carolin Meyer, Matthias Hof, Nigel Cooban, Diana Stuhlmann
  • Patent number: 7604966
Abstract: The invention relates to structured lipid mixtures corresponding to formula (I): characterized in that R1CO, R2CO and R3CO independently of one another represent (i) linear saturated acyl groups containing 6 to 12 carbon atoms or (ii) the acyl group of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and/or an omega-3 or omega-6 fatty acid (OF), with the proviso that the quantity of CLA acyl groups amounts to 3 to 50 mol- % and the quantity of OF acyl groups to 5 to 25 mol- %, based on the quantity of acyl groups. The mixtures are preferably made by subjecting a mixture of component (a) a medium-chain triglyceride; and component (b) a CLA, an (OF), a TG-CLA (TG-OF) or a mixture thereof to enzymatic transesterification in the presence of a vegetable, marine or microbial oil.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 31, 2006
Date of Patent: October 20, 2009
    Assignee: Cognis IP Management GmbH
Inventors: Ulrich Schoerken, Doris Bell, Peter Horlacher, Diana Stuhlmann, Carolin Meyer
