  • Patent number: 6748925
Abstract: A fuel assembly is provided. The fuel assembly includes a fuel supply conduit, an air intake manifold, a fuel injector, and a spacer. The air intake manifold is disposed a predetermined distance from the fuel supply conduit. The fuel injector has a first end disposed in the fuel supply conduit and a second end disposed in the air intake manifold. The fuel injector has a length greater than the predetermined distance. The spacer is disposed about a portion of the fuel injector such that the spacer retains the first end of the fuel injector in the fuel supply conduit and the second end of the fuel injector in the air intake manifold. Methods of installing and removing the fuel injector into and from the fuel supply conduit and the air intake manifold are also provided.

  • Patent number: 6523758
Abstract: A fuel injector is provided. The fuel injector includes a fuel metering member having first and second ends disposed along a longitudinal axis, a seat located within the fuel metering member proximate the second end, and a needle reciprocably disposed within the fuel metering member. The needle has a longitudinal needle axis. The fuel injector also includes a guide disposed within the fuel metering member proximate to the seat. The guide includes a generally planar disk having a first surface, a second surface, and an outer perimeter. The guide also includes a generally concentric central opening extending therethrough. The central opening is sized to allow the reciprocating element to reciprocate therein. The guide also includes at least one inner opening extending between the first and second surfaces from the central opening toward the outer perimeter. The at least one inner opening extends generally parallel to the longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 4274380
Abstract: A check valve central metering system for delivering determinable quantities of fuel to at least one fuel injection valve or injector of a fuel injected engine. The check valve central metering system containing a bi-level pressure regulating means, a 3-way valve, a check-valve, return lines and orifice interconnecting a fuel pump to a fuel rail adapted to receive at least one injector and connected in a fuel circulating mode during times not involving fuel injection and a dead-ended configuration during times involving fuel injection.

  • Patent number: 4140088
Abstract: A fuel injection control system and technique for an internal combustion engine is disclosed having at least one controlled offset fuel injector valve and only one controlled trim injector valve. The offset injector valves produce a constant quantity of fuel by being energized for a fixed pulse duration each injection cycle while the difference between that constant quantity and a desired fuel injection quantity calculated from a fuel schedule is supplied by the variable trim injector. The fuel supply schedule is determined by the engine variables of the operating system by an electronic fuel scheduler circuit which further supplies fuel injection timing pulses for triggering the beginning of the injection cycle.
