  • Patent number: 6478554
Abstract: The invention relates to a hydraulic unit for a hydraulic control and/or regulating device, in particular for anti-blocking and/or anti-slipping brake systems, comprising control and regulating electronics arranged in a control housing as well as a valve block connected to said control housing, whereby at least one driving means is provided for at least one pressure-generating element. A cavity associated with the pressure-generating element receives leakage fluid from the pressure-generating element and a discharge channel that is connected to the cavity is provided in the valve block. According to the present invention, a means is associated with the discharge channel, and said means prevents fluid from entering into the discharge channel.

  • Patent number: 6283732
Abstract: A pump, electromagnetically operable valves and at least one low-pressure accumulator are arranged in a valve block. The valve actuators are disposed in front of a base of the valve block opposite to an electric motor which drives the pump. The housing of the low-pressure accumulator is formed of an add-on piece which is deepdrawn from sheet metal in a bowl-type configuration. The edge of the add-on piece is attached in the mouth of a blind-end bore in the valve block. The add-on piece projects beyond the and has roughly the same height as the actuators of the valves. The actuators and the add-on pieces are covered by a housing cap on the valve block which protects them against environmental influences. The arrangement is extremely compact and permits achieving a relatively small and, thus, light-weight valve block.

  • Patent number: 6231131
Abstract: A system for retrofitting a four-valve ABS system for traction slip control. According to the present invention, only the wheel brakes associated with the driven wheels are furnished with outlet valves apart from the prevailing electromagnetically operated inlet valves. A separating valve is additionally inserted into the brake line, and a self-priming return pump is used which additionally has a suction line to the brake line between the master cylinder and the separating valve. Preferably, the suction line is adapted to be closed by a hydraulic valve. The separating valve may also be replaced by a hydraulically operated valve version. The resulting advantage is that at most four additional solenoid valves are required for the entire brake system in order to realize traction slip control.

  • Patent number: 6189983
Abstract: A hydraulic brake system includes a solenoid valve with a pressure-limiting function to such effect that a stroke movement of a valve tappet, which can be fulfilled in response to the electromagnetic control force, is variable by the action of a hydraulic control force. A first pressure fluid channel is connected to the hydraulic pressure generator and opens into the valve housing proximate the valve tappet, and a second pressure fluid channel opens into the valve housing remote from the valve seat and the valve tappet. The second pressure fluid channel is connected to a pump and at least one wheel brake and is connectable to the first pressure fluid channel depending on the position of the tappet. The hydraulic pressure of the braking pressure generator acts upon an actuating member which counteracts the closing movement of the valve tappet.

  • Patent number: 6078118
Abstract: The present invention discloses a combination of an electric motor and a pump with a compact design. It is important that the pump housing 9 is made of plastic material and slid into the housing periphery 2 of the electric motor so that it embraces the pump housing from the outside and thereby imparts stability to it.The pump bores 15, 16 extend radially outwardly and are closed by plugs 22, 23 which bear against the inside of the electric motor housing 2.Because the pump housing is made of plastic material, it can additionally be used as a brush support plate for the brushes 24, 25 of the electric motor.

  • Patent number: 5932945
Abstract: A motor-and-pump assembly includes armature shaft of the electric motor which is retained in the pump housing by way of a main bearing and an auxiliary bearing. The objective is to align the motor housing centrically to the axis of the armature and, in addition, to achieve a reliable attachment of the motor housing to the pump housing. Therefore, the housing of the electric motor has a bowl-shaped design, and the rim of the motor housing is inserted into a concentrically circumferential groove in a flange surface on the pump housing. The diameter of the inner wall of the groove corresponds to the inside diameter of the motor housing. Thus, the inside wall of the motor housing abuts on the inner rim of the groove. The motor housing is thereby aligned centrically. The motor housing can simply be fastened to the pump housing by a clamping ring which is also inserted into the groove.

  • Patent number: 5895207
Abstract: An assembly, consisting of a motor and a pump, the motor being arranged in a motor housing and the pump in a pump housing. Both housings can be coupled to each other. The motor housing is provided with a second main bearing. The pump housing is equipped with a pump bearing. During normal operation, the forces acting on the pump eccentric are essentially supported by the main bearing and the pump bearing. The bearing forces are introduced into the pump housing. If the motor housing is not fastened to the pump housing, the rotor shaft is supported by the main bearing and, if necessary, an accessory bearing. Thus the motor can be tested without being connected to the pump housing.

  • Patent number: 5894180
Abstract: The application describes an electric motor with a pressure compensation device. This device consists of a BTFE membrane that is arranged in a connecting channel between the interior of the electric motor and the external air.The membrane is arranged in the shield of the electric motor. Since the shield consists of plastic, the membrane can be sprayed on during the manufacture of the shield such that the membrane is inseparably connected to the shield. However, other fastening methods can be considered. One particularly suitable location for arranging the membrane is a circumferential collar that serves for centering the housing relative to the motor shaft. The connecting channel is realized in the form of a slot on the outer side of the collar. The application also describes additional methods for attaching the membrane.

  • Patent number: 5865090
Abstract: The present invention relates to a piston pump, in particular to the arrangement of the bearing ring for supporting the pump piston on an eccentric. The pump bearing includes a bearing ring and a plurality of bearing needles. The peripheral surface of the eccentric is radially inwardly offset in relation to the peripheral surface of the shaft. The two stepped transitions provide stop surfaces for the bearing needles. The bearing ring is supported on an inner ring for a main bearing, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, directly or indirectly on the stepped transition between a second area and a third area in a blind-end bore. Further, an auxiliary bearing is provided with a bearing ring which is made of a material inhering a high degree of wear. Testing the electric motor, used to drive the piston pump, before the piston pump is assembled is thereby permitted.

  • Patent number: 5801467
Abstract: An electric motor is presented whose housing is sealed off by a plate. The plate features an opening whose inner surface serves as a slide bearing for the shaft, whereby the slide bearing is sufficient for operating the electric motor in a trial run. In addition, a protrusion is provided that can be inserted into a first step of a hole drilled in the pump housing and secures the plate in position in the radial direction on the flanged surface of the pump housing. The outer edge of the plate is formed by a collar, over which the housing can be pushed. Thus, the housing is also fixed in place relative to the plate. overall, a centering of the housing about the motor shaft.
