Abstract: An electric motor construction comprises a housing with a motor rotor rotatably mounted in the housing with stator windings disposed in the housing around the rotor. The housing has a wall with an opening therein and a terminal box plug connector for the stator windings is mounted on the wall around the opening and includes an upper and a lower interengageable connector parts. A sealing gasket disposed between the parts which may be plug interconnected and held into position by a snap action lock. The stator windings have lead wires leading from the housing into the connector part and a continuous sealing compound resistant to humidity, vapors and gamma radiation embeds the stator windings and the lead wires and extends from the housing into the connector parts.

Abstract: An apparatus for irradiating a flowing material with an electron beam includes an electron beam accelerating device having an electron beam emitter; an irradiation device having an inclined irradiation tray arranged underneath the electron beam emitter and determining a flowpath for the material to be irradiated; and a material feeding arrangement for introducing the material onto the inclined irradiation tray. The material feeding arrangement comprises a riser vessel having an upper portion, a bottom portion and an overflow edge situated at the upper portion and adjoining the irradiation tray upstream thereof as viewed in the direction of material flow and at least one diffuser communicating with the bottom portion of the riser vessel for introducing the material thereinto.

Abstract: The device for irradiating liquid and pasty substances with high energy electrons in order to pasteurize or sterilize the irradiated substances and to enrich them with one or more additives, comprises a pair of cylindrical circulation members rotatably mounted in said housing and having radially extending helical blades. The members are located in a housing which has the shape of a solid figure eight formed of two tubes connected together and the walls of the housing conform to the path of the movement of the radial tips of the blades with a close clearance. The housing has an inlet for the substances to be irradiated at one end, and an outlet at the other end of the housing which is located between the axes of the rotatable members. The top of the housing has an irradiation opening between the axes of the circulation members and an electron deflecting horn of an electron beam radiating means has an electron accelerator disposed over the irradiation opening for directing a sweeping electron beam thereover.
