  • Patent number: 6251223
Abstract: A process for improving gravure and offset printability of coated and uncoated printing papers by increasing filler share in the paper on the top and bottom sides or in the outer layers of the paper web by using a retention agent, and providing the outerlayers of the fiber bearing liquid forming the paper web with additional retention agent before or during sheet formation on or between the wires of the paper making machine.

    Assignee: Stora Publication Paper AG
Inventors: Hansjörg Kessler, Dieter Horand, Wolfram Friesen
  • Patent number: 5952091
Abstract: A web printing paper, including a coating base paper which contains mineral filler and at least one of wood pulp and cellulose as fiber components. The coating base paper has a grammage of 30 to <58 g/m.sup.2, and a filler content, relative to its grammage, equal to 15 to 35% by weight. The coating base paper selectively contains, in addition to the at least one of wood pulp and cellulose, up to <50% by weight recycled fibers, all weight parts adding up to 100% by weight. The printing paper further includes a coating applied to both sides of the base paper by a film press so as to absorb printing ink. The coating contains pigment and binder. The coating on each side of the base paper has a grammage of 2 to 12 g/m.sup.2, and the pigment of the coating has a grain size, 40 to 60% by weight, of <2 .mu.m.

  • Patent number: 5753077
Abstract: In a web printing paper the base paper comprises of more than 50% wt. de-inked recycled fibers, 10-35% wt. mineral filler and the remainder being wood-pulp and/or cellulose and has a weight of 30 to less than 60 g/m.sup.2. The base paper is coated with a coating having a weight of 2 to 8 g per m.sup.2 and side and the binder proportion is no more than 15% wt. in relation to the coating pigment.

  • Patent number: 4580438
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for testing the duplicating characteristics of pressure-sensitive duplicating sheets and duplicating sets produced therefrom, a stroke grid is drawn on the duplicating sheets to be tested by means of a marking stylus which is actuated either by mechanical or electromechanical devices to apply a selective a contact force, with the grid being evaluated either visually or by photoelectric reflectance measurement, the stroke grid consisting essentially of a plurality of individual strokes which overlap or are closely adjacent but which do not intersect.
