  • Patent number: 9923903
Abstract: A technique is provided that addresses how to provide secured communication in a power distribution communication network. Specifically, upon receipt of a request for an insertion of a new device to the power distribution communication network, checking a unique identifier of the new device received in the request against a list of stored new devices or suppliers stored in a data storage. Upon finding a matching entry, evaluating a predetermined device or supplier certificate against a certificate of the new device received in the request. Upon validation of the received certificate, checking to determine if the new device will fit into a predetermined network topology or relation table that indicates which messages are authorized messages. Configuring the power distribution communication network to include the new device in case the new device fits into the predetermined network topology or the relation table.

  • Patent number: 9671806
Abstract: An exemplary method and apparatus are provided for operating a power grid that has decentralized control elements. The decentralized control elements are adapted to interact with each other, in particular by communication. At least a part of the power grid, a control element or the interaction between control elements, in particular the communication between control elements, is monitored. When a problem in at least a part of the power grid, the control element or the interaction between control elements, in particular a communication breakdown, is detected, a control element affected by the problem is triggered to work autonomously.

  • Patent number: 9286885
Abstract: In a method of generating speech from text the speech segments necessary to put together the text to be output as speech by a terminal are determined; it is checked, which speech segments are already present in the terminal and which ones need to be transmitted from a server to the terminal; the segments to be transmitted to the terminal are indexed; the speech segments and the indices of segments to be output at the terminal are transmitted; an index sequence of speech segments to be put together to form the speech to be output is transmitted; and the segments are concatenated according to the index sequence. This method allows to realize a distributed speech synthesis system requiring only a low transmission capacity, a small memory and low computational power in the terminal.

  • Publication number: 20130293349
Abstract: The present application relates to a user/vehicle-identification (ID) by which access rights privileges and or user settings can be associated to a specific user assigned to a specific vehicle (e.g. driver). In particular, the application relates to using a user/vehicle-ID stored in a car key remote control for associating access rights privileges and or user settings which have a relation to the vehicle, identified by the vehicle ID, to the user of the car key remote control. A system for authentication of a user of a vehicle (1400) is described. The system comprises an identification (ID) device (100) adapted to store an user/vehicle ID string, wherein the user/vehicle ID string identifies the user of the vehicle and the associated vehicle (1400); and an authentication device (1200) adapted to receive the user/vehicle ID string from the ID device (100), and to associate access rights, privileges and or user settings to the user of the ID device (100), when the user/vehicle ID has been verified.

  • Patent number: 7860524
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of providing a Push-to-Talk (=PTT) service within one or more telecommunication networks (1, 2, 3, 4) by means of a gateway-server (5) which sets up a virtual connection per PTT connection. The virtual connection provides information about the participating terminals (10, 20, 30, 40) of the PTT connection, the service type to reach each terminal (10, 20, 30, 40), and the connection status of each terminal (10, 20, 30, 40). Thus, the gateway-server (5) is capable of providing the PTT service within and/or across different telecommunication networks comprising radio access telecommunication networks (1), fixed wire-line telecommunication networks (2), circuit-switched telecommunication networks (3), and packet-switched telecommunication networks (4).

  • Patent number: 7711567
Abstract: Telecommunication systems including a terminal, a switch and on Internet/Intranet having a memory for storing information blocks at locations defined by addresses, can be made more user-friendly by introducing a detector for detecting speech-recognition/non-speech recognition related parts in control signals originating from the terminal and defining the addresses or n response signals sent from memory to terminal and including said information blocks. A processor is coupled to the detector for routing, in dependence on the detection, routing (parts of) the signals to a server for either conversion of (parts of) the signals or for information purposes.
