  • Patent number: 6419842
Abstract: For separating solids contents from a pulp, the pulp is concentrated in a filter device by intense movement up to a predetermined solid matter content. In the filter device, the dynamic pressure and Venturi effects are utilized to support the filtering process. During the discharge of the filtrate, pulp is supplied to keep the filter device in filled condition. The concentrated pulp is batch-wise transferred into a pressing chamber in which the discharged batch is mechanically pressed-out. The pressing cake generated thereby is mechanically comminuted.

  • Patent number: 5474675
Abstract: A filter separator for decomposing a fluid consisting of a mixture of liquids containing solid components has a filter press combined with a micro- and ultrafiltration apparatus. The filter press separates the solid components from the fluid and the micro- and ultrafiltration apparatus separates from one another liquid components according to their different molecular structures. A modular construction with a very compact design and relatively large filter surface areas is shown and described.

  • Patent number: 5154825
Abstract: Disclosed is a filter press comprising a substantially cylindrical vessel, a plurality of filter elements disposed in the vessel parallel to one another, and a rotor having a rotor shaft rotatably mounted in the vessel and a plurality of rotor elements fixedly connected to the rotor shaft and extending each between two adjacent filter elements, the surface of the rotor elements being adapted to be forced towards the filter elements for mechanically compressing filter cakes accumulated thereon, wherein the axis of the vessel is disposed in an upright position, the filter elements and rotor elements being formed as cylindrical wall members disposed in concentric relationship to one another with the rotor elements extending into the spaces between adjacent filter elements and being secured to a mounting structure connected to the rotor shaft, while the filter elements are supported on a carrier grid in the vessel.

  • Patent number: 4781828
Abstract: The invention provides a novel filter press comprising a filter chamber wall adapted to be axially displaced for exposing a plurality of filter units contained in the filter press. A certain clearance is provided between the substantially circular filter units and the interior wall surface of the housing or casing, the latter being sealed only adjacent its ends in cooperation with respective end walls. The sealing surfaces are disposed at locations away from the areas coming into contact with the filtering residues on evacuation and cleaning of the filter chamber. A particularly advantageous embodiment of a rotor for a filter press of this type is composed of rotor disks each comprising two axially displaceable rigid pressure plates which are prevented from being rotated by a hub disk interposed therebetween and non-rotatably mounted on the rotor shaft.

  • Patent number: 4722789
Abstract: The chamber filter press has chambers, which in each case include a hollow space for receiving pulp as well as a hollow space for receiving filtrate on the one or the other side of a filter medium and can be opened after the filtering operation for removal of the filter cake from the respective filter medium as well as from the respective hollow space for receiving pulp. The hollow spaces for receiving pulp are in each case provided with a rotatable as well as an axially displaceable rotor for agitating the pulp, as well as for kneading the filter cake with stirring and compression during the filtering operation and for compressing as well as removing the filter cake after the filtering operation. The chambers can be opened for the simultaneous removal of the filter cake by means of the rotors from the hollow spaces for receiving pulp of all chambers, or first from those of one end and then from those of a second group of chambers simultaneously or simultaneously in each group.

  • Patent number: 4403868
Abstract: An agitator for stirring a flowable material in a vessel, such as a pressure vessel, includes a first set of agitator blades laterally surrounded by a second set. Each set has its own agitator shaft, an inner shaft for the first set of blades and a tubular outer shaft for the second set. The shafts are coaxial and extend through a housing into the vessel. Each set of blades rotates in an opposite direction about a common axis. An axial seal ring unit forms a seal between the inner shaft and the outer shaft and between the outer shaft and the housing. The seal ring unit is formed of two coaxial plural component seal rings, one between the two shafts and the other between the outer shaft and the housing.

  • Patent number: 4383768
Abstract: In a stirring apparatus for sealed mounting on a vessel, in which apparatus a distance between a mounting flange (15) and drive elements of the stirring shaft (2) is bridged by a load-bearing intermediate housing (also called a lantern) (1+7, 50), at least a portion (1) of said housing, which portion supports the drive elements, is displaceable away from the vessel and toward it again by at least one hydraulic cylinder (3) for rendering possible the easy changing of wearing sealing elements for the stirring shaft (2) by using marketable auxiliary devices which may be attached or built in in a simple manner, standard gears too, and in a simple construction of the whole apparatus.Suitably, special guiding bolts (4) are provided for the movable portion (1) of the intermediate housing. If the latter is divided into a movable portion (1) and a portion (7) fixed to the vessel, the fixed portion (7) is used as the seal housing.

  • Patent number: 4128019
Abstract: A stirring mechanism for clearing vats which are used in breweries, comprises a movable frame with an electric drive motor and a worm gear drive driven by the motor which is mounted on the frame and drives a stirrer shaft depending downwardly from the movable frame. The movable frame is guided for upward and downward movement on a fixed support frame which has guide rods for this purpose. The construction also includes an intermediate member, such as an elevating screw, which is connected to the movable frame and is driven by an elevating mechanism mounted on a fixed frame.
