  • Patent number: 7644652
Abstract: The invention relates to a device (15) for foaming milk by means of external suction equipment (35), used as in accessory for espresso machines or similar domestic appliances. Said device comprises a fixed part that can be connected to the steam supply conduit (1) of said machines and an easily interchangeable disposable part (26) containing all parts that come into contact with the milk. The invention is characterised in that components of the disposable parts and in some embodiments of the invention even the entire disposable part consist(s) of thin-walled plastic tubes of the drinking straw type, which can be produced in a cost-effective and environmentally friendly manner by extrusion and subsequent thermoplastic forming. The use of the inventive device obviates the need for the inconvenient cleaning of conventional foaming nozzles and eliminates hygiene problems.

  • Patent number: 7550023
Abstract: In a filter, a rotatable connection flange with two kidney-shaped openings and a diametral web between the openings is located between the top part and bottom part of the filter. Rotating the connection flange allows the direction in which a gas flows through the filter element located in the filter housing to be reversed. In this way, the filter can be operated as a coalescence filter or as a dust filter by simply rotating the connection flange.

  • Patent number: 6691646
Abstract: A water lance blower for cleaning heat installations is disclosed. A water lance linked with a water feed conduit system is swivel-mounted with its orifice disposed in a hatch. The water lance can blow a jet of water through the heating installation in operation and through which flames and/or flue gases are guided to wall areas that can be reached from the hatch. The water lance blower is provided with a drive system with at least two drive units that control the water lance, and with a holding device that fastens the water lance blower onto the heating installation. Further, parts of the water feed conduit system are integrated onto the holding device, thereby substantially limiting the size of the water lance blower to the swivel range of the water lance.

  • Patent number: 6200365
Abstract: A device for continuously fractionating a gas by adsorption, an in-service testing device in a processor-controlled adsorption drier system and a method for testing the operating capability of an adsorption drier system under the control of a processor, including two adsorbent beds connected to one another in a switching system, in which regeneration is performed by a flow of regeneration gas. The device has a gas inlet, a gas outlet and a bypass outlet feeding into a common functional block, which contains a line switching circuit, a first and a second shuttle valve and, optionally, other components. The in-service testing device and the device are so compact due to their respective structures that they can be integrated with one another requiring little space and having low assembly requirements. The testing method is configured to co-operate with the in-service testing device and the device, requiring only a few components for the application thereof.

  • Patent number: 6030525
Abstract: A process of cost-optimized control of a mechanical filter that is situated in a flow of cooling water driven by a cooling water pump in a heat exchanger and that can be regenerated by means of a flushing system involves the following steps: at least one measurement value is determined from which the filter's current degree of soiling is derived and this value is fed to a flush command generator; by means of the functional dependencies and/or data stored in the flush command generator a first and a second performance loss are calculated at predeterminable intervals, the first performance loss comprising the performance loss due to the filter's degree of soiling and the second performance loss comprising the performance loss due to a flushing operation at the current degree of soiling; from the progression over time of the first computed performance loss are determined the total performance losses since the last regeneration as a result of the soiling of the filter; a current second energy loss is calculated f

  • Patent number: 5628898
Abstract: The invention relates to a backwashable filter, which comprises superimposed elements, particularly having an annular design, for producing filter candles. In the case of the filter candles the elements are subject to a radial through-flow from the inside to the outside in filter operation, whereas the flow direction is reversed for backwashing. On the inside of the filter layer is provided on each element a lip, elastically deflectable in the flow direction and facing the flow, which forms a gap opening with a fixed edge of the adjacent element. Under the action of the differential pressure of the flow acting on the wide front face of the lip, the lip performs a movement in which the gap opening is narrowed to a limited extent and as a result of the elastic deformation corresponding restoring forces are built up.

  • Patent number: 4904397
Abstract: In the cleansing especially of cooling water for a heat exchanger the installation of rotationally symmetric filter bodies in the cooling water feeder pipe and suction of sediments across a suction nozzle rotating on the windward side. Difficulties result therein in the production of a required back-flow through the filter and the avoidance of lateral airfluxes in front of the filter surface, as a certain gap is necessary between filter and suction nozzle for holding the sediments.

  • Patent number: 4565631
Abstract: A self-cleaning filter installed in a cylindrical conduit for a liquid to be cleaned, such as cooling water for an industrial power plant, comprises a sieve spanning the conduit and undulating between an upstream and a downstream transverse plane. The interior of the conduit is divided into two or more sectoral compartments which are bounded by corresponding sieve segments on the downstream side and are provided with respective peripheral outlets leading to a drain, these outlets being normally closed by associated shutoff valves. To clean any sieve segment bounding a particular compartment, the upstream entrance to that compartment is obstructed by a flap valve while the corresponding shutoff valve is opened to generate a reverse flow across that sieve segment.

  • Patent number: 4539115
Abstract: A collecting device for removing cleaning balls from a water stream of a power plant condenser has a comparatively short pipe section forming a housing for the pivotal sieve or sieves. A downstream end of each sieve is provided with part of the collecting trough for the balls, the other part being formed by a wall portion downstream of the downstream flange of the pipe section when the sieve is swung into its operative position. A fitting in the housing is connected to this trough by a connecting pipe.

  • Patent number: 4397668
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an apparatus and process for the ion change hardening of glassware by passing the glassware through a stream of molten salt. The glassware may be arranged at different levels on a conveying means, provided with perforations to allow the molten salt to fall from level to level from an overhead salt distributor. The glassware may be positioned on a horizontally spinning rack so that molten salt continuously fills up and empties from the glassware. The molten salt is recycled from the bottom of the apparatus and may be replenished by adding salt to the recycle stream.
