Publication number: 20050145647Abstract: The invention relates to a self-defence module comprising a housing containing a chamber that holds a free-flowing active medium and comprising a compressed gas source for spontaneously dispensing the active medium from the chamber. In order to be able to miniaturise the self-defence module, the compressed gas source is configured from a pyrotechnic gas generator and an ignition unit that interacts with the generator. According to the application, the ignition unit can be triggered manually or by a sensor. The invention also relates to the use of a self-defence module of this type for the protection of persons, buildings, means of transport or valuables.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 21, 2003Publication date: July 7, 2005Inventors: Jochen Neutz, Klaus-Dieter Thiel, Franz Weller, Wilhelm Eckl, Norbert Eisenreich, Hans Ebeling

Publication number: 20040237458Abstract: A method for the protection or defence of moving objects or persons, characterized in that in the case of endangerment, at least one sleeve-type element is inflated from a collapsed space-saving state by means of a gas which is introduced into said sleeve or by means of a gas generated medium to form a barrier. In this way, efficient and flexible protection of systems, buildings or the like can be protected with non-lethal means. As a result, the inventive method or device suitable for carrying out said method can be used in a multiplicity of ways such as to prevent access or influence groups of persons at large public events.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2004Publication date: December 2, 2004Inventors: Klaus-Dieter Thiel, Norbert Eisenreich, Jochen Neutz, Helmut Schmid

Patent number: 5696407Abstract: In the production of spherulitic nitroguanidine having a high bulk and tap ensity nitroguanidine is dissolved in dipolar, aprotic solvents, e.g. DMF, DMSO, NMP, etc., by heating to above the saturation temperature t.sub.s and the supersaturated solution is cooled with a controlled temperature gradient (.degree.C./min), crystallization being assisted by the addition of particulate, spherulitic material. In order to obtain spherical nitroguanidine with high yield in a continuous process and with mother liquor reuse, during the heating to above the saturation temperature t.sub.s, spherical control particles with a diameter of 5 to 500 .mu.m are regularly added to the solution in a quantity of 0.05 to 5.00 mass %. The particle size is chosen in such a way that, as a function of the solution behaviour of the nitroguanidine used and its concentration, on dropping below the saturation temperature spherical control particles are still present in the indicated quantity in the supersaturated solution.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1996Date of Patent: December 9, 1997Assignee: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Forderung der angewandten Forschung e.V.Inventors: Klaus-Dieter Thiel, Herbert Heinisch

Patent number: 5078055Abstract: The work table with a carrying structure held above the floor by supporting elements (4, 5) and devices for holding table surfaces and/or add-ons in the form of fixedly or moveably arranged resting surfaces includes a base frame (1) of a pair of longitudinal bearers (2) and a pair of transverse bearers (3), which is designed as a structural unit. The supporting elements are fastened to this structural unit as individual table legs (4) or box member in the form of drawer units (5), attached detachably on the underside of the base frame (1). Some of the ends of the longitudinal and/or transverse bearers of the base frame (1) are designed as coupling or resting regions for attachments or add-ons of the work table.Due to the interchangeability of leaf frames (7, 7") which can be coupled to the base frame (1) and bracket elements, the components of the work table can be used on the modular principle.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1989Date of Patent: January 7, 1992Assignee: Protoned B.V.Inventors: Mario Bellini, Dieter Thiel

Patent number: 5063036Abstract: In a process for producing phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate (AN), a diammine complex of Ni or Cu is incorporated into the AN lattice, in which the diammine complex is produced in a solid-state reaction of AN and metal oxide at 110.degree. to 170.degree. C. and in a proportion of up to 10% is either mixed with further AN and melted, homogenized and subsequently transferred into the solid state, or mixed with further AN is incorporated into the AN lattice at between 80.degree. and 170.degree. C. in a solid-state reaction.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1990Date of Patent: November 5, 1991Assignee: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Forderung der angenwandten Forschng e.V.Inventors: Walter Engel, Norbert Eisenreich, Klaus-Dieter Thiel

Patent number: 4993202Abstract: A cavity floor that includes a profiled sheet material. The sheet material has support feet that are substantially rigid. The surface of the sheet material extending between the support feet is substantially flexible. The thickness of the sheet material and the mutual spacing of the support feet are selected so that the sheet material is sufficiently rigid to support a person and sufficiently flexible to adapt to an uneven floor surface. The deformable surface enables automatic vertical adjustment of the support feet relative to one another when under load.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 1989Date of Patent: February 19, 1991Assignee: Schmidt Reuter Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH & Co. Patent number: 4911285Abstract: A drive shaft is for a rotary plate of a labelling machine for bottles or the like and includes a rotatable turntable of the labelling machine having an upper portion. A circular cam block is mounted below the turntable and has a curved slot therein. The rotary plate is mounted for rotation on the upper portion of the turntable. A drive shaft is mounted for rotation in the turntable and has an upper end and a lower end. The rotary plate is coupled to the upper end of the drive shaft. The lower end of the drive shaft includes a crank arm which is disposed in the curved slot for cammed rotation of the drive shaft during rotation of the turntable. The curved slot includes an opening in the cam block and the drive shaft including the crank arm is alignable with the opening for downward removal from and upward installation in the turntable through the opening.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1988Date of Patent: March 27, 1990Assignee: ETI-TEC Maschinenbau GmbHInventors: Wolfgang Rogall, Wilfried Rubel, Dieter Thiel, Rudolf Zodrow

Patent number: 4182626Abstract: Granular compositions containing pulverulent magnesium are made by blending the pulverulent magnesium ingredient with the desired other ingredient(s). To this end, a premix is formed by mixing, in a first stage, the pulverulent magnesium with the other ingredient(s) in a ratio by weight of 4:1 to 1:19; and intimately mixing this pre-mix, in a second stage, with further proportions of said other ingredient(s) giving a total ratio by weight of 1:799 to 1:19.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1978Date of Patent: January 8, 1980Assignee: Hoechst AktiengesellschaftInventors: Georg Strauss, Wilhelm Portz, Albert Braun, Joachim Kandler, Klaus Komorniczyk, Hans-Dieter Thiel

Patent number: 4168773Abstract: A bottle labeling apparatus is provided in known manner with a turntable for picking up bottles at one location and delivering them elsewhere. The turntable has a plurality of rotary heads at its perimeter, the heads rotating regularly during a part of their cycle but being accelerated or retarded during the pickup and delivery operations by means of a cam and follower. Each rotary head carries a clamp comprising a pair of resiliently urged jaws for picking up and releasing a bottle when the axis of the bottle at the pickup and discharge stations, respectively, lies within the plane of symmetry of the clamp jaws.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1978Date of Patent: September 25, 1979Assignee: Jagenberg-Werke AktiengesellschaftInventors: Dieter Thiel, Peter Weber, Jurgen Winsberg
