    Abstract: The invention relates to a self-defence module comprising a housing containing a chamber that holds a free-flowing active medium and comprising a compressed gas source for spontaneously dispensing the active medium from the chamber. In order to be able to miniaturise the self-defence module, the compressed gas source is configured from a pyrotechnic gas generator and an ignition unit that interacts with the generator. According to the application, the ignition unit can be triggered manually or by a sensor. The invention also relates to the use of a self-defence module of this type for the protection of persons, buildings, means of transport or valuables.

    Abstract: A method for the protection or defence of moving objects or persons, characterized in that in the case of endangerment, at least one sleeve-type element is inflated from a collapsed space-saving state by means of a gas which is introduced into said sleeve or by means of a gas generated medium to form a barrier. As a result, the inventive method or device suitable for carrying out said method can be used in a multiplicity of ways such as to prevent access or influence groups of persons at large public events.

    Abstract: In the production of spherulitic nitroguanidine having a high bulk and tap ensity nitroguanidine is dissolved in dipolar, aprotic solvents, e.g. DMF, DMSO, NMP, etc., by heating to above the saturation temperature t.sub.s and the supersaturated solution is cooled with a controlled temperature gradient (.degree.C./min), crystallization being assisted by the addition of particulate, spherulitic material. In order to obtain spherical nitroguanidine with high yield in a continuous process and with mother liquor reuse, during the heating to above the saturation temperature t.sub.s, spherical control particles with a diameter of 5 to 500 .mu.m are regularly added to the solution in a quantity of 0.05 to 5.00 mass %. The particle size is chosen in such a way that, as a function of the solution behaviour of the nitroguanidine used and its concentration, on dropping below the saturation temperature spherical control particles are still present in the indicated quantity in the supersaturated solution.

    Abstract: A drive shaft is for a rotary plate of a labelling machine for bottles or the like and includes a rotatable turntable of the labelling machine having an upper portion. A circular cam block is mounted below the turntable and has a curved slot therein. The rotary plate is mounted for rotation on the upper portion of the turntable. A drive shaft is mounted for rotation in the turntable and has an upper end and a lower end. The rotary plate is coupled to the upper end of the drive shaft. The lower end of the drive shaft includes a crank arm which is disposed in the curved slot for cammed rotation of the drive shaft during rotation of the turntable. The curved slot includes an opening in the cam block and the drive shaft including the crank arm is alignable with the opening for downward removal from and upward installation in the turntable through the opening.

    Abstract: A bottle labeling apparatus is provided in known manner with a turntable for picking up bottles at one location and delivering them elsewhere. The turntable has a plurality of rotary heads at its perimeter, the heads rotating regularly during a part of their cycle but being accelerated or retarded during the pickup and delivery operations by means of a cam and follower. Each rotary head carries a clamp comprising a pair of resiliently urged jaws for picking up and releasing a bottle when the axis of the bottle at the pickup and discharge stations, respectively, lies within the plane of symmetry of the clamp jaws.
