Patent number: 7580973Abstract: The invention relates to a method for loading, storing and presenting web pages, by which means the required band widths and the time taken to load web pages for an application are reduced. To this end, components or information elements separate from web pages are provided with indicators by which means the expiry dates can be deduced. The indicators are evaluated by the application which may be a browser. In this way, the application can reload only the updated data/components from the original source. Information elements which are constant over a long period of time can be completed or loaded by the application from a memory associated with the same. The loading times and data quantities for a data transmission from an original source to an application can thus be considerably reduced. The invention also relates to an information system which uses said method, preferably in a motor vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2001Date of Patent: August 25, 2009Assignee: Volkswagen AGInventors: Dorte Falk, Stefan Lux, Dietmar Peters, Carsten Schnier, Uwe Heidemann, Rolf Feldmann

Patent number: 6158021Abstract: The proper functionality of a first processor is checked with a second processor. The second processor thereby provides the first processor with a start value and a computation rule. The first processor carries out the specified computation rule using the predetermined start value, and returns a result to the second processor. The second processor checks the result against a stored comparison result. The computation rule is defined such that the basic instructions which are used for programming the first processor are checked.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1998Date of Patent: December 5, 2000Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Herbert Ziegler, Richard Merl, Horst Jouvenal, Dietmar Peters, Johann Schmid

Patent number: 6067586Abstract: The functionality of a first processor is checked with a second processor. A data word with a specified number of data bits is supplied to the first processor from a second processor at specified time intervals. Each data bit is assigned a function. Having processed a function, the first processor inverts the associated data bit and, at the end of a time slice, passes the data word to the second processor, which checks the transferred data word.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1998Date of Patent: May 23, 2000Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Herbert Ziegler, Richard Merl, Horst Jouvenal, Dietmar Peters, Johann Schmid

Patent number: 5992379Abstract: A control device of the internal combustion engine has a first arithmetic unit and a second arithmetic unit. The arithmetic units process a control program with a first, second and third program level. In the second program level an actuation signal is monitored, and a first emergency operating function is activated in the first program level if the second program level has detected an implausibility of the actuation signal. The third program level is caused to carry out a second emergency operating function if, while the first emergency operating function is being carried out in the first program level, the implausibility of the actuation signal continues to be detected.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 1998Date of Patent: November 30, 1999Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Claus Brudigam, Dietmar Peters
