  • Publication number: 20240092992
Abstract: A method for purifying a reclaimed polymer to a purer polymer is disclosed. In embodiments of the present invention, the method involves obtaining a reclaimed polymer, leaching various contaminants with a leaching solvent producing a leached polymer, extracting the leached polymer with a first fluid solvent to produce an extracted polymer, and then dissolving the extracted polymer in a solvent to produce a first solution comprising the dissolved polymer. The first solution is settled and then filtered. A purer polymer is separated from the resulting solution.

  • Publication number: 20230332053
Abstract: Used AHP or its components is converted into a stream comprising low molecular weight n-paraffins, iso-paraffins, naphthenes, olefins, and aromatics using an HTT reactor. These low molecular weight hydrocarbons produce ethylene, propylene, and other chemicals when fed into a steam cracker, which can be used to produce polyethylene, polypropylene, and SAP recycled components of the AHP or a fully recycled AHP.

  • Publication number: 20230235149
Abstract: A method for purifying a contaminated reclaimed polyethylene is provided. The method comprises obtaining the contaminated reclaimed polyethylene, extracting it with a solvent to produce an extracted contaminated reclaimed polyethylene, and then dissolving it in the solvent to produce a first suspension comprising dissolved polyethylene and suspended contaminants. The first suspension is settled to produce a second suspension comprising dissolved polyethylene and suspended remaining contaminants, and the second suspension is purified by contacting it with solid media to produce a third suspension comprising purer polyethylene. Finally, the purer polyethylene is separated from the third suspension and it has virgin-like optical properties.
