  • Patent number: 11960369
Abstract: A method for generating a copy of a database using a data streaming protocol is disclosed. The method comprises setting up a structure of a secondary database, prioritizing data objects to be copied from a primary database to the secondary database, copying data objects from the primary database to the secondary database using a data streaming protocol, restoring data corresponding to the data object in the secondary database in parallel to copying data objects from the primary database to the secondary database, applying changes made to the data corresponding to the data object in the primary database during the time of copying, after the data object has been copied, and making available the secondary database for usage once all data objects have been copied from the primary database to the secondary database so that a usable copy of the primary database is created.

  • Publication number: 20130315704
Abstract: The invention relates to a ship propulsion system comprising a nozzle body and a propeller enclosed by said nozzle body; the nozzle body has an inner surface which forms a flow channel, and further an outer surface; a constriction is situated between the inlet plane and the outlet plane of the flow channel; as seen in an axial sectional view, the inner boundary surface of the flow channel has a first contour between the inlet plane and the constriction, and a second contour between the constriction and the outlet plane; the constriction is situated at a distance of 0.25 to 0.55 of the length of the nozzle body as measured from the inlet plane, preferably 0.3 to 0.4.

  • Publication number: 20100231412
Abstract: A device is disclosed, in particular a power quality meter and power quality device, for determining and recording data relating to an electrical power supply system on the basis of analog electrical signals, in particular voltage, current and frequency, which are output and/or derived from the electrical power supply system and are passed to the inputs of the device. In at least one embodiment, the device includes a measurement channel, which is connected downstream from the inputs, for measuring the electrical signals, and a software-controlled processor, which is connected downstream from the measurement channel, for determining the data. In order to determine the quality of power supply systems with little effort, in at least one embodiment a communication channel is provided which has a communication interface which is likewise connected to the inputs and via which the device can communicate by cable via the electrical lines of the power supply system with correspondingly equipped other devices.

  • Patent number: 7527009
Abstract: A method for damping of the rolling motion of a water vehicle, in particular roll stabilization of a ship with at least one propeller, comprising a rotating wheel body, which bears axis parallel blades on the outer circumference, the blades being pivoted around their longitudinal axis. The rolling motion of the water vehicle by modification of the pitch a thrust is generated which counteracts the rolling motion. The modification of the pitch for generation of a counterthrust takes place optionally in the recording of a quantity characterizing the rolling motion of the ship or a signal for activation of the roll stabilization in dependency on a default value of the current transverse pitch set on the blades.

  • Publication number: 20070123120
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for damping of the rolling motion of a water vehicle, in particular roll stabilization of a ship with at least one propeller, comprising a rotating wheel body, which bears axis parallel blades on the outer circumference, said blades being pivoted around their longitudinal axis; in which case in dependency on a quantity at least indirectly characterizing the rolling motion of the water vehicle by modification of the pitch a thrust is generated which counteracts the rolling motion; characterized by the following features: the modification of the pitch for generation of a counterthrust takes place optionally in the recording of a quantity characterizing the rolling motion of the ship or a signal for activation of the roll stabilization; in which case in dependency on a default value of the current transverse pitch set on the wings acting as an actual value a modification of the transverse pitch takes place.

  • Patent number: 6516739
Abstract: A tugboat with a forwardly-facing rudder and roller at the stern, and a propulsion drive disposed at either the bow or the stem that generates a high transverse force for towing large ships on a desired course. The roller is disposed in an off-flow region aft of the rudder.

  • Patent number: 6032602
Abstract: A device for guiding the flow of floating objects. The device is connected to a hull of the floating object and, depending on the flow, feeds hydrodynamic forces into the hull. The device shows a main flow body which is designed in a more flat-topped manner in the area of a leading head than in the area of a trailing end. In the flow direction, a secondary body is placed behind the trailing end, which secondary body shows a rounded cross-sectional contour. The secondary body is equipped with a flow-through recess. Furthermore, the secondary body is, regarding an axis of revolution that runs at an angle to the flow direction, guided in an adjustable manner.

  • Patent number: 5632661
Abstract: Device which is independent of the main propulsion system of a ship, and which can be used selectively as a passive rudder or as an active maneuvering mechanism, and consists of one or more blades, a wheel body, a transmission and one or more control units. When the wheel body is stationary, in response to commands from the control unit or units, the blades can be oriented separately by means of the transmission and can be coupled or uncoupled to set the required angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the ship. In that case, the device acts as a passive rudder. When the wheel body is rotating, the position of the eccentrically located blade or blades is varied during a rotation of the wheel body so that a resulting thrust is generated on account of the hydrodynamic forces which act on the blade or blades. The direction of the thrust can be set in any desired direction by means of the control unit or control units and the sun wheel or the sun wheels of the transmission.
