  • Patent number: 10443859
Abstract: A water heating assembly, related kit, use and method make use of a temperature control near a point of use of water, so as to reduce a time response for hot water at this point of use are provided. The water heating assembly includes a tank for containing water, an inlet temperature sensor for sensing an inlet temperature of the water upstream of the tank, and a valve located upstream of the tank. The valve is actuated when the sensed inlet temperature reaches a given temperature set-point such that the water is bypassed from the tank and directly sent to the point of use. The water heating assembly is configured such that the point of use can be fed with water at the desired temperature in a reduced time, the water coming directly from the hot water source and/or the water heating assembly, thereby saving water, energy and time.

  • Publication number: 20150290341
Abstract: The present invention is related to a compound that includes a lysosomal enzyme and a targeting moiety, for example, a compound that includes iduronate-2-sulfatase conjugated to Angiopep-2 through a linker formed by specific click chemistry reactions. In certain embodiments, these compounds, owing to the presence of the targeting moiety, can cross the blood-brain barrier or accumulate in the lysosome more effectively than the enzyme alone. The invention also features pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds and methods for treating lysosomal storage disorders (e.g., mucopolysaccharidosis Type II) using such compounds.

  • Publication number: 20150147310
Abstract: The present invention is related to a compound that includes (a) ?-L-iduronidase (IDUA), fragment, or analog thereof and (b) a targeting moiety, for example, where compound is a fusion protein including IDUA and Angiopep-2. In certain embodiments, these compounds, owning to the presence of the targeting moiety can crossing the blood-brain barrier or accumulate in the lysosome more effectively than the enzyme alone. The invention also features methods for treating mucopolysaccharidosis type I (MPS-I) using such compounds.

  • Publication number: 20120196803
Abstract: The present invention relates to a compound that includes a peptide vector, such as angiopep-2 which acts as a carrier across the blood-brain barrier, linked to glial-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), or a related molecule, such as an analog or a fragment thereof. The compounds of the invention may be used to treat any disease where increased neuronal survival or growth is desired, e.g., neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson's disease or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Other diseases can be treated using the compounds include schizophrenia and depression.

  • Publication number: 20110288009
Abstract: The present invention features a compound having the formula A-X-B, where A is peptide vector capable of enhancing transport of the compound across the blood-brain barrier or into particular cell types, X is a linker, and B is a leptin, a leptin analog, or OB receptor agonist. The compounds of the invention can be used to treat any disease in which increased amounts of leptin are desired, such as metabolic diseases including obesity and diabetes.
