  • Patent number: 9539984
Abstract: Method to estimate the wear state of wiper blades (5) of a vehicle windshield wiper unit (1), said windshield wiper unit (1) comprising: at least one wiper blade (5) configured to wipe a windshield surface (S) when activated, at least one motor (7) configured to activate the at least one wiper blade (5), a controller (9) configured to control the at least one motor (7), comprising the steps: deriving a friction coefficient (B) between the at least one wiper blade (5) and the windshield surface (S), using the derived friction coefficient (B) to determine the wetness of the windshield surface (S), if the windshield surface (S) is dry, using the derived friction coefficient (B) to estimate the wear state of the at least one wiper blade (5).

  • Patent number: 9403509
Abstract: This invention concerns a method to detect the wetness state of a vehicle windshield surface (S) comprising a windshield wiper unit (1), the windshield wiper unit (1) comprising: —wiper blades (5) configured to wipe the windshield surface (S) when set in motion, —at least one motor (7) configured to set the wiper blades (5) in motion, —a controller (9), configured to control the at least one motor (7), the method comprising the steps: —measuring the power consumption of the at least one motor (7), —determining the wiping speed (W) of the wiper blades (5), —using the measured power consumption and determined wiping speed (W) to deduce a friction related coefficient of the windshield surface (S), —comparing the deduced value to at least one predetermined value in order to determine the wetness state of the vehicle windshield surface (S).

  • Patent number: 6123146
Abstract: A motor vehicle air conditioning installation has a cold loop, a hot loop, a sensor for measuring cabin temperature, a manual setting unit for setting demand values of cabin air parameters, and a control unit for defining the resulting required adjustments to be made to the various components of the cold and hot loops. The control unit includes a temperature estimating module which generates an estimated value of the outside temperature, either from (a) the measured value of cabin temperature (in stabilized operation of the installation), or (b) a temperature value stored in a sub-memory of the control unit (when the installation is converging towards its stabilized mode).

  • Patent number: 5709533
Abstract: The invention is based on the premise that, for a given air blower, the current I consumed by the electric motor, the rotational speed N and the air flow rate Q are interconnected, regardless of the dynamic pressure, by a law Q=f(I, N) which can be experimentally determined on a ventilation bench. In order to perform any adjustment, I and N are measured, from which a calculator derives Q by means of the above-mentioned law. The comparison of the calculated value with the desired flow rate Qd provides an error signal which is applied to a control device which determines the supply voltage (U) of the motor of the blower. The invention is applicable to heating or air-conditioning installations for the passenger space of vehicles.
