  • Patent number: 4706739
Abstract: A heat exchanger assembly for cooling the interior of a closed cabinet containing electronic components or the like includes a finned heat pipe core. The core has a plurality of spaced substantially parallel heat bodies as well as a plurality of spaced fins which are provided with colinear apertures through which each of the plurality of heat pipe bodies can extend. The finned heat pipe core is secured to an associated closed cabinet. A pair of fans are provided, one being operatively connected with each end of the finned heat pipe core. One of the fans and an associated first end of the heat pipe core is in contact only with the air inside the associated closed cabinet. The other of the fans and an associated second end of the finned heat pipe core is in contact only with the ambient air outside the associated cabinet. The fins have a spacing and a thickness which is sized to fit the performance curve of the fans.

  • Patent number: 4638854
Abstract: Means for accurately controlling the transfer of heat to or from a device includes a heat pipe having a condenser end and an evaporator end. A helical screw thread is provided on the exterior surface of the heat pipe so that a portion of the heat pipe may be removably insertable via the threading into a threaded aperture in a desired section of the device. Alternatively, a connecting member, in which a portion of the heat pipe is fixed, may be selectively secured to the desired section of the device. At least one heat sink fin which is selectively securable on the heat pipe via the threading may also be provided.

  • Patent number: 4600050
Abstract: A heat exchanger assembly for cooling the interior of a closed cabinet containing electronic components or the like includes a finned heat pipe core. The core has a plurality of spaced heat pipes positioned in at least two rows and a plurality of spaced fins which are provided with colinear apertures through which each of the plurality of heat pipes can extend. The heat pipes are secured to the fins. A member is provided for securing the finned heat pipe core to an associated cabinet. A pair of fans are provided, one being operatively connected with each end of the finned heat pipe core. One of the fans and an associated first end of the heat pipe core is in contact only with air inside the associated closed cabinet while the other of the fans and an associated second end of the finned heat pipe core is in contact only with the ambient air outside the cabinet. The fins have a spacing and a thickness which is sized to fit the performance curve of the fans.

  • Patent number: 4047020
Abstract: A disguised emergency light adapted to appear of a predetermined color when turned on and to appear other than the predetermined color when turned off. The light includes a light source substantially surrounded by surrounding means which includes color means of a predetermined color for imparting light of the predetermined color to light transmitted outwardly therethrough from the source, and disguise means closely adjacent the color means for outwardly transmitting light of the predetermined color therethrough when the light is turned on while blocking at least a substantial portion of the external light rays directed toward the color means from being imparted with the predetermined color when the light is turned off.
