  • Patent number: 11132897
Abstract: Apparatuses, methods, and systems of an edge server communicating with vehicles by continuously receiving messages which include data of state transitions of Electronic Control Units (ECUs) contained in each vehicle; monitoring in real-time the streamed message data from each vehicle for detection of updates of data about state transitions of ECUs used in the vehicular operations; crowdsourcing in real-time the state transition data of the ECUs during the vehicular operations to group together state transition data having commonality as crowdsource transition data; processing, using a machine learning model, the crowdsource transition data, to classify the crowdsource transition data of an anomaly event; and transmit in advance to an identified vehicle an alert of the anomaly event in order for a driver or ADAS to execute a response.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: September 28, 2021
Assignee: GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS, LLC
Inventors: Donal McErlean, Joon Hwang, Geoffrey Wakefield, Mason D Gemar, Scott E. Jackson

  • Publication number: 20200074864
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided that include obtaining, via a transceiver, location data from a plurality of vehicles pertaining to a location of each of the vehicles, from transmission from the vehicles; determining, via a processor, a group of the vehicles that are expected to be disposed within a particular region at a particular time; calculating, via the processor, a density of vehicles for the particular region for the particular time, based on the determined group of vehicles; selecting, via the processor, a subset of the group of vehicles for continued transmission of data, based on the density of vehicles; and providing instructions, via the processor for transmission via the transceiver, for selective continuing or discontinuing of subsequent transmission of location data from certain of the group of vehicles, based on whether each of the group of the plurality of vehicles is part of the subset.

  • Patent number: 9922553
Abstract: Methods, systems, and storage media are described for assisting the operation of a first vehicle. In embodiments, a computing device of the first vehicle may obtain first sensor data from a first sensor of the first vehicle. The first sensor data may be representative of a second vehicle proximate to the first vehicle. The computing device may determine a first position of the second vehicle relative to the first vehicle; initiate a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications session with the second vehicle; receive second sensor data from the second vehicle during the V2V communications session; and determine a second position based on the second sensor data. The second position may be a position of the second vehicle relative to a third vehicle. The computing device may display an image of the third vehicle on a display device. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.
