Abstract: A marine fender for protecting a marine structure and watercraft against damage from collision forces. The marine fender includes an elongate body of resilient material having a basal wall dimensioned and configured for mounting the marine fender on the marine structure, and an outer wall for being engaged by a collision force, the basal wall and the outer wall defining an inner space. A web within the inner space is integral with the basal wall and with the outer wall, and has a generally M-shaped lateral cross-sectional configuration enabling cushioning by the outer wall and establishing an integral reinforcing and energy absorbing construction within the inner space for protecting against damage to the marine structure from collision forces exerted against the outer wall, as well as against damage to the watercraft.

Abstract: A mooring whip mounting base has a basal member for affixation to a docking structure, a holding member for holding a mooring whip for mooring a boat adjacent the docking structure, and a connecting structure for selective movement of the holding member to selectively move the mooring whip between a mooring position, wherein the mooring whip extends at a relatively shallow angle to a horizontal direction, and a more nearly vertical retracted position, wherein the mooring whip is retracted to gain ready access to the boat for boarding and better clearance for departure of the boat from the dock. A positive stop arrangement includes positive stops for limiting movement of the holding member to movement between positive first and second positions so as to positively determine the mooring and retracted positions of the mooring whip while facilitating selective movement of the mooring whip between the mooring and retracted positions.

Abstract: Towing apparatus for towing a personal watercraft at a desired distance behind a tow boat includes towing units having straight tubular walls, the towing units diverging from the personal watercraft toward the tow boat, each towing unit including a central tow line tensioned between the ends of the tubular wall, with each tubular wall in compression, enabling managed flexing of the wall of each towing unit for controlled lateral and altitudinal movements of the personal watercraft relative to the tow boat while maintaining the desired towing distance between the personal watercraft and the tow boat.

Abstract: A coupling unit for connecting together serially adjacent pipe sections with coupling members selectively coupled together by placing a latch in a latching position and selectively uncoupled by moving the latch to an unlatched position is improved by incorporating a locking lever movable into a locking location to juxtapose generally complementary locking surfaces to lock the latch in the latching position and movable into an unlocking location wherein the generally complementary locking surfaces are out of juxtaposition for release of the latch for movement to the unlatched position.

Abstract: An improvement in a lubrication adaptor for a marine steering system in which the lubrication adaptor is threaded onto a control cable housing and provides for the lubricated telescopic movement of a tubular member relative to the control cable housing, the lubrication adaptor having a chamber extending between a seal and a clearance between the tubular member and the control cable housing for containing lubricant, the improvement including a tapered, frusto-conical surface contour configuration along the inner surface of the chamber, the frusto-conical configuration being oriented with a smaller diameter adjacent the seal and a larger diameter adjacent the clearance for urging the lubricant in the direction away from the seal and into the clearance.

Abstract: An improvement in a mooring whip includes a locking cam adjacent the top of the mooring whip for securing a mooring line to the tip of the mooring whip and a release cord attached to the locking cam for selective release of the mooring line for slipping relative to the tip of the mooring whip, the mooring line and the release cord both being directed to a location adjacent the base of the mooring whip for operation remote from the tip of the mooring whip to either bias the boat away from the boat dock upon which the mooring whip is mounted or to enable the boat to be drawn up to the dock selectively for boarding.

Abstract: An anti-theft device for a marine drive unit includes a cupped member for location around a threaded fastener which secures the drive unit in place so as to enable a blocking device to be secured in position to block access to the threaded fastener and thereby preclude unauthorized removal of the threaded fastener and the drive unit, the cupped member having outer surfaces lying in mutually perpendicular planes forming a corner complementary to a corner of the drive unit to preclude rotation of the cupped member when seated in the corner of the drive unit in order further to prevent unauthorized rotation of the threaded fastener.

Abstract: An anti-theft device for a marine propeller has a spinnerplaced over the propeller nut which secures the propeller to the propeller shaft, and the spinner is held in place against unauthorized removal by a lock pin projecting from the propeller nut into an annular recess in the spinner, enabling the spinner to spin freely relative to the propeller nut while capturing the spinner against axial movement which would expose the propeller nut for unauthorized wrenching, the spinner including a radially extending access passage for gaining access to the lock pin with an authorized drive member to move the lock pin out of the annular recess for selective release of the spinner from the propeller nut and authorized access to the propeller nut for wrenching.

Abstract: A device for holding a mooring line in position relative to a boat dock for facilitating the mooring of a boat at the dock includes a mounting member to be affixed to a pile or other vertical surface of the dock structure and a flexible rod carrying a mooring line holder and journalled in the mounting member for swinging movement in a horizontal plane between two fixed positions, one of which positions facilitates the pick-up of the mooring line from the holder when the boat approaches a moored location and the other of which positions facilitates the placement of the mooring line in the holder when the boat is in the moored location.
