  • Patent number: 11352032
Abstract: A universal retarder system for slowing a railcar on rails. The system includes a lever arm configured to be pivotable within a vertical plane, where the lever arm is configured to support a brake shoe. An engagement device is coupled to the lever arm and configured to pivot the brake shoe towards one of the rails. A disengagement device is coupled to the lever arm and configured to pivot the brake shoe away from the one of the rails. The lever arm, engagement device, and disengagement device are each positioned between the rails. Pivoting the brake shoe towards the one of the rails is configured to force the brake shoe into engagement with the railcar to slow the railcar.

  • Publication number: 20100101446
Abstract: A railway anchor applicator for applying an anchor to a rail includes a frame configured for movement along a track, an anchor input for sequentially delivering an anchor to a workhead assembly, where the workhead assembly is movably mounted on the frame for movement toward and away from the rail. An anchor receiving arm is configured for movement between a first position receiving an anchor from an anchor input and a second position placing the anchor away from the anchor input. A main pivot arm is configured for movement between a first position generally away from the rail and a second position generally adjacent the rail. A bar clamp arm is operatively linked to the main pivot arm and is configured for movement underneath the rail, then upwards and towards the rail. An operator station is located on the gage side of the rail which the anchor is being applied.

  • Patent number: 7694630
Abstract: A railway vehicle movable on a railroad track having a frame configured for movement relative to the track is provided. The vehicle includes a bulk storage container disposed on the frame and located generally at the center of gravity of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 7647871
Abstract: A railway anchor applicator for applying an anchor to a rail includes a frame configured for movement in a specified direction of travel along a track, and a workhead assembly movably mounted on the frame for movement toward and away from the rail. Also provided is an anchor receiving mechanism configured for movement between a first position receiving an anchor from an anchor input and a second position placing the anchor away from the anchor input. An anchor positioning mechanism moves between a retracted and extended position for positioning the anchor adjacent to the rail at either the field or gage side of the rail. An anchor clipping mechanism engages the anchor onto the rail by applying pressure on the anchor from the side of the rail and compresses the anchor between components of the anchor clipping mechanism so that compressive forces act on the anchor transversely across the rail.

  • Publication number: 20020020677
Abstract: An integrated farm animal waste treatment system for treating solid and liquid farm animal wastes while recovering waste heat energy generated during the treatment process. The preferred embodiment includes a portable chemical treatment process that can be moved from one waste processing site to another in order to treat a variety of different types of animal waste in varying amounts on a batch basis. The preferred embodiment provides for the destruction of hazardous solids, liquids and gases. In addition, the process includes means to isolate and recover valuable by-products of farm animal waste, such as nitrogen and ammonia, for use in manufacturing commercial-grade fertilizer. The preferred embodiment also includes means for capturing waste heat for use either internally in the waste treatment process itself or, alternatively as a source of heat for the farm creating the animal wastes.
