  • Patent number: 4112793
Abstract: A device for cutting ovals or circles in sheet material. A baseboard is secured adjustably atop a parallel pair of base channels by a combination of screws and coil springs. A base plate secured to one end of the baseboard supports (1) a pair of swivel-mounted hold-down arms and hold-down pads having swivel-mounted, spring-urged pads; (2) a tee bar with a slidably mounted scaled flat shank portion and a crossbar with a center index line; and (3) an upright frame member. The upright frame member supports a horizontal frame member extending forward over the baseboard and having a pair of spaced-apart transverse guide bars with a longitudinal opening extending in between them. A circular disc is mounted for rotation by a handle, within and tangent to the transverse guide bars, and the disc has a slot extending radially from about the center out toward the circumference of the disc.

  • Patent number: 4027396
Abstract: A marking gauge for measuring and marking desired distances on French mats. The gauge has a sheet shaped as an isosceles right triangle for alignment with a corner of a cutout area. An elongated rectangular member is secured to and overlies the sheet, having a short edge coinciding with the base of the triangle from the midpoint thereof to one 45.degree. vertex thereof and a first long side leading from the midpoint of the base through the 90.degree. vertex, bisecting it. A second long side is parallel to the first long side and extends from the 45.degree. vertex. The rectangular member provides a pocket open along each long side and closed at each end, one end being located precisely directly above the 90.degree. vertex. Inside the pocket is a removable marker scale having index markings along the first long side.

  • Patent number: 4025666
Abstract: A method for decorating the border panel or any other area of a cardboard picture mat and the product of that method. Boundary lines of ink or other material are drawn to give a desired pattern and to define design area. Then a finely divided pigmented powder is brushed into the areas which are desired to be colored. The paper surface holds only a limited amount of the powder, and excess powder is removed. The areas may be rubbed down to assure even distribution and to impart a desired brilliance or tone.
