Patent number: 7195788Abstract: The foliage and stems of plant species from the family Rosaceae, genus Prunus, yield natural pesticides when macerated. Hydrodistillation of macerated plant biomass yields a concentrated solution of organic volatile compounds that act synergistically as a natural pesticide. Volatile compounds liberated from Prunus biomass include 2-propanol, hexanal, trans-2-hexenal, 1-hexanol, cis-3-hexenol, mandelonitrile, benzoic acid, benzaldehyde, benzyl alcohol, hydrocyanic acid and others. These compounds may be removed from the distillate and reformulated to form a standard concentrated solution, with benzaldehyde, mandelonitrile and hydrogen cyanide being the major components. The extracts may be used as a soil treatment or soil fumigant for soil-borne pests. They also may be formulated for application as solutions with or without a surfactant or formulated as powders for foliar treatment.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2002Date of Patent: March 27, 2007Assignee: Premier Botanicals, Ltd.Inventor: Donald D. Roberts

Patent number: 5720526Abstract: A device and method for locking a slidable and tiltable truck bed against tilting when the truck bed is in the forward position adjacent the truck cab are presented. The device includes a movable actuator that communicates with the truck's hydraulic system to effect tilting. If this actuator is prevented from moving, the tilting function cannot be accessed. The actuator is locked by restraining its top end between two tabs at one end of a hinge. A spring positioned between a fixed support, to which is also affixed the other end of the hinge, and one of the tabs, in the absence of compression, permits the actuator free motion; upon a forward sliding of the truck bed, however, the spring is compressed, moving the tabs downward to engage and restrain the actuator top end.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 1996Date of Patent: February 24, 1998Inventor: Donald D. Roberts

Patent number: PP11788Abstract: Selection M0107-4 is a new Mentha piperita plant that has more resistance to Verticillium wilt and mint rust than existing peppermint varieties. The essential oil produced by this plant resembles typical peppermint oil in component composition, but differs in the typical ratio of components. The oil is milder than typical peppermint oil organoleptically because it has a lower Menthol and higher Menthone content. The plant starts growth early in the spring, has vigorous growth until flowering and matures later than Mitcham type peppermint.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1997Date of Patent: February 27, 2001Inventor: Donald D. Roberts
