  • Patent number: 5407359
Abstract: An endosseous dental implant system comprising an artificial root and a canted coronal section. Interposed between the artificial root and the canted coronal section is an intermediate post having a locking formation adjacent both the coronal section and the artificial root. A floating screw is captured inside the intermediate post and permits the intermediate post to be secured to the artificial root independently from the coronal section. The coronal section can be secured on the intermediate post with a free screw.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 5, 1993
Date of Patent: April 18, 1995
    Assignee: Calcitek, Inc.
Inventors: Alan R. Balfour, Donald E. Hendricks
  • Patent number: 5368160
Abstract: A sterile delivery system for a dental implant comprising a vial and cap with a detachable driver. The dental implant is secured to the driver by a screw. Once the implant has been secured in the jaw of a patient, the driver is removed and the screw is replaced on the implant root portion as a healing screw. In this fashion, the total number of parts required, and the number of parts contacting the implant are reduced, thus reducing the possibility of infection and simplifying the number of components in the sterile delivery system.
