  • Patent number: 5199218
Abstract: A hinge for mounting a wooden gate to a wooden fence post. This hinge features a protected pivot point so as to minimize deterioration of the pivot point by weathering, lips that coact with the fence post so as to counter act gate sagging over time and thus maintain the gate in a square orientation and a design that limits the gate opening or swing to one direction only. The hinge is comprised of a non-moving stirrup member mounted in a notch cut into the fence post and a moving stirrup member that is attached to the gate. The pivot pin of the hinge is mounted within a notch in the fence post so that it is protected from the elements. The notch in the fence post also supports the non-moving stirrup member of the hinge so as to minimize gate sagging. The simplicity of the hinge design provides a gate hinge that is inexpensive to manufacture and simple to assemble and install.

  • Patent number: 5103658
Abstract: A gate latch is provided for locking a hingeably mounted gate to a latch post. A gate latch is mounted to either the gate or post by a mounting means. The mounting means extends from a lock housing having a locking means disposed therein. Extending from the housing is an oarlock means. The oarlock means is pivotal between a first locked position and a second unlocked position. The locking means automatically locks the oarlock means in the first locked position when the oarlock pivots from the second position to the first position. Also provided is a key lock means normally biased to a locked position which may be used to unlock the oarlock from the first lock position and permit the pivotal movement of the oarlock between the first and second positions.

  • Patent number: 5024473
Abstract: A gate locking device for a fence which includes a security box having a mounting plate affixed within the box. The security box is mounted to a pole of the fence. An oarlock is hingeably mounted within the security box. The oarlock is capable of movement between an unlocked position and a locked position. In the locked position the oarlock engages another pole of the fence. A dead bolt is securely affixed to the mounting plate within the security box and is movable between an extended and unextended position. The dead bolt is disposed in mechanical relation to the heel plate of the oarlock so that when the dead bolt is moved to the extended position it substantially prevents the pivotal movement of the oarlock. A barrel lock is mounted to the security box and mechanically connected and adapted to the dead bolt for moving it between the extended and unextended position.

  • Patent number: 4919463
Abstract: A gate latch for a chain link fence comprising a collar for mounting on a first portion of a gate; an oar lock latch for pivotal mounting on a second portion of a gate, the oar lock having means formed thereon to lock the oar lock to the collar. A means is also provided which is formed on the collar for interfitting with the locking means and for enclosing a portion of the oar lock to lock the oar lock to the collar and inhibit access to the enclosed portions of the oar lock.

  • Patent number: 4691541
Abstract: A gate lock of the oarlock type having a locking member fixed to a collar at the end of the collar having the oarlock hingeably mounted thereto. The lock member is a push button lock having a lock bar which extends to engage the oarlock to hold it in the locked position. The lock member always remains fixed to the device in an operable position so the lock may easily be engaged.
