  • Patent number: 5024468
Abstract: The invention comprises a metal push-in tube fitting and a release tool. The metal tube fitting includes a body with a tube-receiving cavity in one end. A tube support forms the inside of the cavity and supports the tube against inward movement. A gripper ring having a radially inner gripping edge is disposed in the cavity and grips a tube inserted in the cavity through the ring. A retainer holds the gripper ring in the body of the tube fitting. A release tool is provided for releasing a tube which is held by the gripper ring of the fitting. The release tool has a thin, cylindrical section portion which can be received about a tube held in the fitting and then inserted in the fitting to raise the gripper and release the tube.

  • Patent number: 4534379
Abstract: A locking frame for a ball valve consists of a sheet metal stamping folded into an enclosure having upper and lower plates to partially surround a part of the operating handle and the nut which secures the handle. The handle is keyed to the valve stem and engages body flanges to limit travel to valve open and valve closed positions. The frame is also fitted over the valve stem and includes tabs which engage the flanges to position same and to prevent rotation thereof. The upper plate is folded to a position parallel to the lower plate after assembly and includes a depending tab to further enclose the nut to prevent tampering. A pair of holes in the upper and lower plates are thus in registry and the shackle of a padlock may be passed therethrough to prevent movement of the handle from the valve open and valve closed positions.

  • Patent number: 4335908
Abstract: A quick connect fitting for air brake tubing consists of a body member with a tubing support therein and a nut threadedly connected to the body. A split ring gripping sleeve having a conical outer surface cooperates with the conical inner surface of the nut to receive and retain inserted tubing. A ring seal is disposed in the body member to provide a primary seal between the body and nut and includes a surface in engagement with the gripping sleeve to maintain alignment of same with the conical surface, limit the inward movement of the sleeve and bias the sleeve toward the conical surface to enhance the grip. In various embodiments of the invention the ring seal provides a primary seal on the O.D. of the tubing or it abuts the end of the inserted tubing, in both instances providing an increased force to return the split ring tight to the conical surface of the nut. An o-ring in the nut provides a seal on the O.D.

  • Patent number: 4302036
Abstract: A preassembled tube coupling into which a tube may be inserted and which automatically grips the tube to prevent withdrawal of the tube. The coupling includes a packing ring for sealing the tube, a sleeve with spring fingers to lightly grip the tube upon insertion of the latter, and a nut with a cam surface to contact the fingers into tight gripping engagement with the tube upon slight withdrawal motion of the tube.

  • Patent number: 3972343
Abstract: A shuttle valve comprising a body having a longitudinal bore and coaxial first and second counterbores, a sleeve having a first portion press fitted into one of the counterbores and a second portion having a slip fit in the other counterbore. The sleeve has a bore therethrough and there is a valve element movable within the smaller counterbore for alternately opening and closing the body bore and the sleeve bore with respect to a transverse port that intersects the smaller counterbore. The sleeve has a tapered surface where it is press fitted into the smaller counterbore and the sleeve has a tapered shoulder that engages a tapered shoulder between the two counterbores to seal the sleeve within the body.
