  • Publication number: 20240074640
Abstract: A cannula system and method for accessing a blood mass in the brain. The system comprises a cannula with a camera mounted on the proximal end of the cannula with a view into the cannula lumen and the surgical field below the lumen. A prism, reflector or other suitable optical element is oriented between the camera and the lumen of the cannula to afford the camera a view into the cannula while minimizing obstruction of the lumen. The system may also include an obturator with a small diameter shaft and a large diameter tip which is optically transmissive, so that a surgeon inserting or manipulating the assembly can easily see that the obturator tip is near brain tissue (which is white) or blood (which is red).

  • Patent number: 10398840
Abstract: A dispensing device which disperses medicate through a needle across a zone within a body. The device includes a needle which is, during use, becomes encapsulated within a tubular needle-receiving member, a reservoir in fluid communication with the needle, positioned within the housing, and in communication with the needle, a second reservoir, a reservoir-connecting conduit in communication with the reservoir, a fluid drive in communication with the fluid in the second reservoir and in communication with the reservoir-connecting conduit, and a linear drive attached to the needle or to the needle-receiving member. The fluid drive impel fluids from the second reservoir to the reservoir-connecting conduit and thus drives the therapeutic agent from the reservoir during the linear displacement of the needle towards the housing. Fluid communication from the therapeutic agent reservoir to the needle is maintained by the tubing during operation of the linear drive.

  • Patent number: 9022987
Abstract: A dispensing device which disperses medicate through a needle across a zone within a body with zero pressure differential. The device includes a needle which is, during use, becomes encapsulated within a tubular needle-receiving member, a therapeutic agent reservoir in fluid communication with the needle, positioned within said housing, and in communication with the needle, a second reservoir, a reservoir-connecting conduit in communication with the therapeutic agent reservoir, a fluid drive in communication with the fluid in the second reservoir and in communication with said reservoir-connecting conduit, and a linear drive attached to said needle or to said needle-receiving member.

  • Patent number: 4126131
Abstract: A face mask for supplying oxygen to personnel such as flight crews during times when there is inadequate air available, has fitted to it a device containing a passageway leading from the interior to the exterior of the mask, and a manually operable, slidable valve stem adapted in a first position to block the exit through the passageway of gas within the mask, and in a second position to open the passageway to permit the flow of gas from the interior to the exterior of the mask. The exit opening from the passageway is located at the upper nose area where it will be encompassed within the cavity of a goggle fitted over the vicinity of the eyes of the user. By manually moving the valve stem to the position where the passageway is open, oxygen from within the face mask is forced into the goggle cavity to flush out from the goggle cavity any smoke or noxious gas which may be present within it.
