  • Patent number: 5534315
Abstract: A decorative art form structured to be a substantially rigid and free-standing display is disclosed. The decorative art form includes a first sheet of material lying generally in a first plane and having a plurality of apertures formed therethrough in a predetermined pattern to outline the profile of the decorative art form. Also included is a second sheet of material lying generally in a second plane which is generally parallel to the first plane. The second sheet has a predetermined plurality of second apertures formed therethrough in a predetermined pattern which outlines the same profile as that outlined by the predetermined pattern of first apertures formed through the first sheet. A predetermined plurality of retainers are inserted into corresponding apertures of the first and second sheets to maintain the first and second sheets in a rigid and parallel relationship to form a free-standing decorative art form.

  • Patent number: 4744010
Abstract: Apparatus for the removable mounting of electrical components such that the connecting and/or disconnecting of the electrical component to or from electrical conductors does not expose an individual to contact with the electrical conductors is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a strip member having a plurality of grooves therein to accept an electrically conductive member therein, a face cover member to cover the plurality of grooves and a module structure to be removably mounted to the strip member. The face cover member has a plurality of apertures therein such that an aperture is positioned over each of the grooves. The module structure includes structure for removably mounting the electrical component therein and structure for removably connecting the electrical component across a plurality of the electrical conductors by physically penetrating the electrical conductors after passing through predetermined apertures in the face cover member.

  • Patent number: 4439961
Abstract: A leveling and locating or positioning device is disclosed which includes a force-bearing structure which is guided for vertical leveling movement by a vertical reference device which also provides a horizontal position reference. Horizontal movement of a tapered wedge device, which operatively interfaces with a sloped floor member of the force-bearing structure, causes vertical movement of the force-bearing structure and the resulting leveling function. A horizontal extender device, slidably mounted to and supported by the force-bearing structure, provides the horizontal locating or positioning function. A support device is operatively included or mounted to one end of the horizontal extender device and is configured to operatively interface with the member or device which is to be leveled and located or positioned.

  • Patent number: 4413453
Abstract: A swimming pool wall, for placement in an excavation, is made up of a series of bendable plates having only vertical flanges for stiffening while permitting shaping the wall to a selected outline. A resilient coping strip embraces the upper edge of the wall and houses a rigid metal bar to retain the upper edge of the wall in the desired configuration while other braces, at the lower edge of the wall extend from the plates to the outer edge portions of the flanges to securely maintain the lower edge of the wall in the desired configuration. Vertical Z-shaped bars are secured to certain of the plates to further stiffen them and further braces, secured to the flanges, extend diagonally upward into a concrete apron, selected ones of the diagonal braces carrying a form plate for defining the outer edge of the apron. Rigid bars are used to hold corner plates to a desired curvature during assembly of the pool wall and its placement in the excavation. After back-filling and forming the apron, those bars are removed.

  • Patent number: 4343120
Abstract: A swimming pool has a sidewall and a flexible liner, the sidewall defining an outwardly extending bay having opposed sidewalls between which a stair assembly is sealingly secured. The stair assembly is a molded structure having a continuous depending flange at the ends of the treads and risers and a hollow triangular stiffening rib extending longitudinally and generally centrally along the underside of each tread. A continuous coping embraces the upper edge of the pool sidewall, the upper edges of the opposed sidewalls and the upper edge of the top riser of the stair assembly. The opposed sidewalls of the bay are metal plates to which the depending flanges of the stair assembly are secured and those plates have edge flanges sealed to the edges of the flexible liner at the sides of the bay.

  • Patent number: 4126905
Abstract: A floating therapy apparatus or "spa" is provided which is adapted to be floating in and to utilize the filtration and heating systems of a conventional swimming pool comprising a substantially water impermeable enclosure, which is immersed and supported in a conventional swimming pool, having only the upper peripheral edge of said enclosure above the surface of said pool. A water supply inlet is used to circulate heated filtered water from said pool filtration system into said enclosure, the spa water may be discharged into the main pool and/or a water return may be used to discharge water from the enclosure. Valving means for channelling substantially all or at least a disproportionately high amount of the capacity of the swimming pool water heater water is used as the feed water for said enclosure.

  • Patent number: 4047340
Abstract: A swimming pool having sidewalls constructed from a series of prefabricated modular panels connected at the ends to enclose the interior of the pool. The panels are preferably formed of foamed synthetic resinous composition and of a limited number of configurations or modules which are interchangeably adapted for use in forming pools having a plurality of shapes, e.g. a straight panel, a concave curved panel and a convex curved panel. Each panel is adapted to mate and lock with the adjoining panel, and with an upper and with flanges and rib arrangements which are functional as well as serve to strengthen the panel. In a specific embodiment, a tongue is formed on the flange on one side and a mating groove on the flange on the other side of each panel for instant connecting and interlocking of adjacent panels when they are assembled in forming the pool wall. A sealing strip may be placed within the groove and abuts on the tongue of the adjoining panel thereby precluding leakage between the panels.
