Abstract: Single-stranded oligonucleotide probes, systems, kits and methods for chromosome enumeration, gene copy enumeration, or tissue diagnostics. The probes are particularly suited for detecting gene amplification, deletion, or rearrangement in tissue samples in a single, dual, or multiplexed assay. The probes exhibit improved performance compared to industry leading dual-stranded probes; particularly in terms of the rate of hybridization.

Abstract: Seismic brackets for retaining an article during an earthquake or other vibration. The seismic brackets comprise at least one fastener component for anchoring the bracket to a stabilizing support structure, one or more connecting member and at least one fastener component for affixing the bracket to a support structure. The connecting member features a U-shaped loop made from a resilient metallic or polymeric material.

Abstract: The invention is drawn to a methods and systems employing at least one seismic isolation bearing having a substantially polygonal shape in a top and/or bottom view. Preferably the polygonal shape is other than a square shape; preferably the shape is other than a rectangular shape. Such polygonal isolation bearings can be easily and securely joined to other components o the flooring or platform, and are of particular use in modular seismic isolation systems, in which the floor or platform can be assembled to suit the available space. In preferred systems the polygonal isolation bearings may be used in low profile systems, for example, in locations having restricted headroom.

Abstract: A personal propulsion system, including an assembly adapted to support a passenger and achieve flight through the discharge of pressurized fluid; and a pressurized fluid source in fluid communication with the assembly, where the pressurized fluid source does not achieve flight, and where the pressurized fluid source is constructed at least in part from one or more ballistic armor materials.

Abstract: Aqueous urea-formaldehyde resins solutions are prepared by (a) forming a first aqueous solution containing urea and formaldehyde in a molecular ratio in the range urea:formaldehyde=1:3 to 1:1.5, (b) reacting the first aqueous solution under neutral or alkaline conditions to form a reaction mixture containing substantial amounts of methylol urea products, (c) vacuum evaporating the reaction mixture to produce a concentrated mixture having a solids content of 55% to 80% by weight, and (d) further condensing the concentrated mixture under acid conditions to produce a resinous material. The urea may be wholly or partially replaced by melamine.
