  • Patent number: 10402863
Abstract: A function intelligence engine receives input regarding application program content, including functions or capabilities of the application program that can be separately purchasable, and can further receive information regarding advertisements that can be displayed to users within the context of the application program. User-specific information is also received, including a user's current status and context within the application program, as well as a user's history, both within the application program, as well as in other application programs. Based on such information, the function intelligence engine determines and compares the probability of a user purchasing, versus the probability of the user consuming advertising, to acquire the separately purchasable function.

  • Patent number: 9307290
Abstract: Electronic program guide descriptions, of content referenced by the electronic program guide, are user-targeted based on user data. Such user-targeted electronic program guide descriptions aid users in identifying desirable content, thereby increasing user interaction performance with a content presentation device providing such user-targeted electronic program guide descriptions. To generate user-targeted electronic program guide descriptions, received electronic program guide information includes different, alternative or mutually exclusive, content descriptions of a given content item. Such electronic program guide information is compared with the user data and user-targeted content item descriptions is generated from the different content descriptions. A visual electronic program guide, including the user-targeted content item description, is displayed to a user on a physical display device.

  • Patent number: 9253513
Abstract: Improved operation of a content presentation device is achieved by one application, presenting content to users, automatically identifying an independent second application, available on the content presentation device, based on remotely-sourced information, and invoking that second application based on explicit or implicit user input. Bidirectional notifications are enabled between the two applications whereby activity within one application can affect the other. The first application displays an advertisement and can also, based on metadata received with the advertisement, identify the second application and invoke it, based upon explicit or implicit user action, such that both are simultaneously visible in separate content display areas on a physical display device. User interaction with the second application is independent of the display of the corresponding advertisement by the first application.

  • Patent number: 8523289
Abstract: A cutting bit retention assembly (399) that includes a cutting bit holder (500), which receives a cutting bit (58) and has shank (504) that extends into a bore (418) in a support (400). The shank section (504) of the cutting bit holder (500) presents a surface (530) defined by a notch (528) that selectively cooperates with a retention pin (670). A transverse bore (430) in the support (400) carries the retention pin (670). The retention pin (670) is selectively movable to any one of several positions. One position is a non-retaining position wherein the retention pin (670) does not engage the notch surface (530). Another position is a retaining position in which the retention pin (670) engages the notch surface (530) to urge the cutting bit holder into the cutting bit holder bore (418). Still another position is an ejecting position in which the retention pin (670) engages the notch surface (530) to urge the cutting bit holder (500) out of the cutting bit holder bore (418).

  • Publication number: 20070045599
Abstract: A mining bit puller having a striking pad is disclosed. The puller has a plate with two forks at a front end and a striking pad at a back end. In one embodiment, the forks are generally wedge shaped, and the puller includes a handle extending at an angle from the top of the bit puller plate. During mining tool bit changeout operations, the pad may be struck with a hammer or other tool in order to force the forks between a collar of the tool bit and its mounting block to pull the tool bit out of the block.

  • Publication number: 20050082898
Abstract: A cutting tool assembly (10) includes a support block (12) and a replaceable spray nozzle housing that can be manually installed onto a support block positioned on a drum in the field. Wherein the support block includes a fluid passage communicating water from a water supply to a fluid passage within the spray nozzle housing. The spray nozzle housing is connected to the support block by welding. The weld joint between the spray nozzle housing and support block forms a liquid tight seal. The spray nozzle housing is oriented on the support block so that water spray from the spray nozzle outlet is directed toward the tip of the cutting tool.

  • Patent number: 6283609
Abstract: The flashlight of the present invention is comprised generally of a flashlight chassis which houses energy cells, a flashlight head which houses a beam adjustment assembly, and an endcap which houses a switch assembly. The beam adjustment assembly and the switch assembly utilize printed circuit boards to support the lamp bulb and switch, respectively. The beam adjustment assembly mounts inside the flashlight head and can only be accessed and adjusted by removing the outer lens retaining ring that secures the assembly within the head. Once accessed, the bulb support of the assembly can be rotated relative to the reflector of the assembly to adjust the light focal length of the flashlight. The adjustment assembly is also provided with a shock absorber that supports the light bulb. In one embodiment, the endcap is provided with a threads to permit the flashlight to be axially attached to an expandable baton.
