  • Patent number: 4696090
Abstract: A removable blade assembly is provided for use with an impact termination tool to insert electrical conductors into termination clips and sever the end of the conductor. The blade assembly includes a scissors type cutter which is operated in conjunction with the impact operation under the influence of a biasing spring and cam follower associated with the movable cutting blade. Cutting is achieved either during wire insertion or subsequently upon impact, depending upon the amount of cutting resistance encountered. A wire removal hook is provided at the end of the blade assembly and is within the impact tool handle during impact operation. The blade assembly may be easily removed from the impact tool for replacement, storage, or use of the wire removal hook.

  • Patent number: 4489491
Abstract: A tool for cutting the outer jacket of a cable, especially coaxial cable, is disclosed herein. This tool utilizes a main body which supports a downwardly extending knife edge from its underside. A gripping tray which is at least as long as the normal width of four adult fingers and which is adapted to receive a longitudinal section of the cable to be cut is supported by the main body under its depending knife edge for movement between a first lowermost position sufficiently far from the knife edge to place the cable section out of engagement with the latter and a second raised position sufficiently close to the cutting edge for placing the outer jacket of the cable section in cutting engagement with the knife edge. In this way, an individual user can place the tray in its raised position using all four fingers of one hand while pulling the cable longitudinally through the tray with his other hand in order to cause the knife edge to cut its outer jacket in the longitudinal direction.

  • Patent number: 4241496
Abstract: A hand held termination tool which is used in conjunction with a termination blade for connecting conductor wires to terminals on a termination block has a handle within which is disposed a hammer assembly. A slide assembly is mounted in the handle yieldably urged to a position extending from one end thereof and disposed to receive an impact blow from the hammer assembly when forced inwardly from the extended position a predetermined distance. The hammer assembly includes a drive spring providing the force for the impact. A drive spring seat member supports one end of the drive spring and is movable between an extended and a retracted position, thereby providing a short compressed drive spring length in the extended position and a longer compressed drive spring length in the retracted position. A cam adjustable to either one of two positions selects either the short or longer compressed lengths for the drive spring and thereby a high or a low impact force respectively.

  • Patent number: 4161061
Abstract: A reversible termination tool blade is removably interlocked in a slide by means of a spring loaded cam follower on the slide and a cam surface on the reversible termination blade. The blade is inserted in the slide with a rectilinear motion aligning the cam follower with the cam. A rotary motion of the blade in the slide causes the cam to pass the cam follower, capturing the cam follower behind the cam and interlocking the termination blade in the slide with the desired end of the termination blade projecting therefrom.
