  • Publication number: 20030071872
Abstract: A layered cleaning blade includes a first surface forming a wiper surface comprised of a relatively low-hardness material for wiping fluid nozzle openings of a fluid ejecting head as the fluid ejecting head moves in a direction toward the wiper surface and a second surface forming a scraper edge comprised of a relatively high-hardness material for scraping the fluid nozzle openings as the fluid ejecting head moves in the opposite direction. The layered cleaning blade thereby optimizes the fluid ejecting head cleaning process by combining both the fluid nozzle opening wiping function and the fluid nozzle opening scraping function in a single cleaning blade.

  • Patent number: 5604567
Abstract: An apparatus and method for adjusting color and gray balance in a color printer, wherein a multicolored output sheet including a set of printer color balance adjustment instructions for performing color balance adjustments processor is produced by the print engine. A processor provides a color balance judging indicator, from to a scanned test pattern sheet in the case of a copier or from a memory electronically storing a test image. A controller is used to for transmit the set of printer color and gray balance adjustments to the processor.

  • Patent number: 5313254
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for regulating the velocity of a member constrained to move about a predefined path. The invention comprises a magnetic patch or strip, located on a surface of the member, and having a plurality of magnetic signals recorded thereon, along with a magnetic detector, positioned in proximity to said magnetic strip, for sensing the magnetic signals recorded thereon, during movement of the member, and producing an output signal in response to the magnetic signals. The invention further comprises means, operatively connected to impart a driving force to the member, and control means for regulating said driving means so that the member is driven at a velocity which is a function of the output signal.
