    Abstract: An example cooling system for a computer includes a canister that holds a compressed fluid and a gas cooling device having an inlet port and a chilled gas outlet port. In addition, the cooling system includes a valve that couples between the canister and the inlet port of the gas cooling device, the valve selectively couples the compressed fluid to the inlet port. Further, the cooling system includes a pressure regulator that coupled between the canister and the inlet port of the gas cooling device, wherein the pressure regulator selectively regulates the flow rate of gas to the inlet port of the gas cooling device. Still further, the cooling system includes a chilled gas duct system that couples to the chilled gas outlet port, the chilled duct system configured to direct the chilled gas to be incident upon at least one heat generating element of the computer system.

    Abstract: A missile nose is tiltable and rotatable relative to a missile body through the action of an actuator system. In an exemplary embodiment, the actuator systems uses two electro-mechanical actuators mounted co-axially and having the output shaft of one actuator fed through the shaft of the other. One of the actuators controls a tilt angle between a longitudinal axis of the body and a longitudinal axis of the nose. The other actuator rotates the nose about the longitudinal axis of the body. A method of steering a missile includes using the actuator system to maintain the missile nose pointed at a target or other desired destination.

    Abstract: A compact disk drive useful with a laptop computer comprises at least one glass disk, thin film read/write heads and a head actuator preferably made of magnesium material. The drive motor hub and hub flange are made of steel and the magnet housing for the actuator is made from an integral steel unit. A flexible cable assembly, which is connected to the read/write head circuits and to external circuitry for data processing and for providing control signals, is formed with two flexible sections. Each section is attached to the head actuator and to stationary posts of the disk drive housing thereby balancing the forces applied to the actuator when it is moved for head accessing. A clamp for holding the disk to the motor hub is designed to minimize distortion and to prevent shifting and misalignment of the disk relative to the center of the motor hub.

    Abstract: A container of a pressurized gas has an elongated inlet/outlet tubular neck which extends into a housing passage. A cap sealed over the inlet/outlet neck has a platelike member connected to the neck via a hollow support or column. A piston is slidingly received within the housing passage for movement toward the platelike member and has a rod which can be brought into contact with the member eccentrically of the hollow support. A squib on being discharged driving the piston toward the platelike member and rod cantilevers about the hollow support causing it to break and release the gas for use.

    Abstract: A booth in which components are cleaned by high pressure water ejected from a nozzle assembly associated with a robot. The robot is adapted to move the nozzle assembly along multiple axes so as to enable the nozzle assembly to reach various areas of the components to be cleaned. The nozzle assembly and part of the robot are located in the booth but substantial portions of the robot are located outside of the booth in order to avoid the need for waterproofing those portions. To enable the robot to operate while located partially within and partially outside of the booth, one wall of the booth is formed by groups of slidable panels which expand and contract to accommodate the robot as the robot is moved. In one embodiment, the panels form the ceiling of the booth and, in a second embodiment, the panels define one upright side wall of the booth.
