  • Patent number: 4591275
Abstract: Pulverulent or other bulk material is conveyed in a continuous stream on a belt conveyor, the stream comprising a plurality of substreams of different compositions which are deposited by hoppers onto the conveyor belt. A frame straddles the conveyor belt downstream from the hoppers and carries a plurality of fixed plow assemblies which depend from the frame at locations spaced apart laterally and longitudinally of the conveyor belt, each plow assembly having a plow blade which extends into the stream of pulverulent material. The blades are variously oriented, each blade displacing the engaged portion of the stream both vertically and laterally of the conveyor belt to mix together the compositions of the substreams.

  • Patent number: 4176013
Abstract: Assembly for providing a seal between sealing surfaces on a coke oven door and the associated door jamb includes a high temperature-resistant and resilient seal body extending around the entire periphery of the door and secured between retaining members. A steel bearing strip is disposed beneath the seal body between the retaining members and is engaged at spaced-apart points therealong by a plurality of setscrews threadedly engaged through complementary openings in the door for pushing the bearing strip against the seal body and varying the pressure with which it engages the sealing surface on the door jamb.

  • Patent number: 3984226
Abstract: A fertilizer concentrate and process for making same in which a sulfuric acid solution contacts an ammonia containing gas to produce a liquid non-crystalline ammonium sulfate. The reaction takes place in an absorber wherein the reactants are maintained at about 120.degree.F., the outlet stream from the reactor being split into two streams, one of which is recycled to the absorber and the other of which is recycled to a circulation tank for sulfuric acid make-up. The weight percent of ammonium sulfate in the final solution is in the range of about 35% to about 42% by weight.
