  • Publication number: 20040203307
Abstract: A wallcovering system, composite wallcovering and method for providing a smooth finished surface to wall substrate are provided. The wallcovering system comprises a composite wallcovering consisting essentially of a decorative wallcovering layer bonded to a base sheet having sufficient stiffness, thickness and compressibility to conceal surface irregularities on a wall surface of a wall substrate. In one aspect of the invention, the composite wallcovering comprises a layer of woven glass fiber adhesively bonded to a nonwoven fiber glass mat. The composite wallcovering can be installed in one step to provide a smooth finished wall surface on the wall substrate.

  • Publication number: 20040200560
Abstract: A method is disclosed for providing a substantially smooth surface on a wall substrate having a wall surface with surface irregularities. The method comprises applying an adhesive substantially uniformly to the surface of the wall substrate, and attaching to the wall surface a base sheet having sufficient stiffness, thickness and compressibility to conceal the surface irregularities and provide a substantially smooth surface on the wall substrate. In one aspect of the method, the base sheet is a nonwoven fiber glass mat.

  • Patent number: 5264257
Abstract: An insulating board is provided in which the capacity to absorb the moisture exemplified by wood fiber based board, cellulose fiber based board and perlite based board is coupled with the high permeability of fiberglass insulation to provide a board having a balance between the capacity to hold moisture and sufficient permeance to allow the board to give up the moisture as the board is passed through a cycle of absorption and desorption, whether it be on a daily or seasonable cycle.

  • Patent number: 4972644
Abstract: Metal building insulation comprising a low density glass fiber layer and a vapor retarding facing. The facing extends beyond one edge of the fibrous layer to form a tab, and comprises a laminate of a glass fiber mat bonded to the lower surface of the insulation layer, an intermediate glass fiber scrim and an outer vapor retarding sheet. The low density insulation is cost effective and easy to handle, the mat provides body to allow the tab to maintain contact with the facing of an adjacent insulation layer so as to form a vapor barrier across the butt joint between the adjacent layers, and the scrim provides tear strength.
