Abstract: Repeated single needle access to the vascular system is accomplished without percutaneous needling of the skin. A cannula is surgically implanted adjacent to a selected artery or vein and interfaces with same along a longitudinal wall. One end of the cannula exits from the skin. Needle means including an indexing scheme allows serial puncturing of the interface wall to thereby provide the vascular access. When not in use the cannula is plugged and the exposed end thereof is covered preferably by an elastic layer.
