  • Patent number: 4663521
Abstract: An electric switch has an infrared radiation detector and a visible light detector. The switch is activated when both a change in the detected infrared radiation is sensed and the sensed visible light has a given relationship to a predetermined intensity level. An adjustment of the predetermined level is provided whereby the switch is activated when the level is set to the visible light intensity at the time the adjustment is made.

Date of Patent: May 5, 1987
    Assignee: RCA Corporation
    Inventor: Donald W. Maile
  • Patent number: 4650986
Abstract: A mode control circuit is particularly useful in controlling the operation of an passive infrared appliance switch. When power is first applied to the control, a first output signal is emitted which places the switch in one mode of operation. If the power is then removed and reapplied within a short time, the control emits a second output signal placing the switch in a second mode of operation. However, if the power is removed for a long enough time, the control will emit the first signal when the power is reapplied.

  • Patent number: 4647788
Abstract: An electric switch for controlling a light has an infrared radiation detector. In response to a change in the radiation being sensed by the detector, the light is illuminated to a first brightness level. A manual switch is provided to turn on the light to a second brightness level.

  • Patent number: 4618770
Abstract: An electrical control has a detector which senses the infrared radiation within a given area. A pair of comparators function as a window discriminator. A voltage divider provides reference bias potentials to the comparators. The same divider provides a bias to the signal input terminals of the comparators. These signal input terminals are coupled through a capacitor to the detector. The output of the comparators is used to actuate the control.

  • Patent number: 4590546
Abstract: A power supply provides a regulated DC voltage level for a wide range of AC supply levels. The power supply incorporates circuitry which forms a voltage doubler or a full wave rectifier in response to the level of the AC supply voltage. The transition between the type of rectification is rapid, so that the regulated voltage remains constant.
