  • Publication number: 20060285136
Abstract: A color-processing method includes: selecting a target color gamut to produce an input color signal; calculating a mixture ratio enabling primary colors of the target color gamut to be created by mixing primary colors of a color gamut of the color reproduction apparatus to reproduce the input color signal therewith; producing primary colors reconfigured by mixing the primary colors of the color gamut of the color reproduction apparatus according to the calculated mixture ratio; adjusting an illuminant to match an output signal to a color gamut determined by the reconfigured primary colors; and converting the input color signal to match to the primary colors determined by the reconfigured primary colors. Further a user can arbitrarily set a color gamut in a range that a color reproduction apparatus can reproduce regardless of an input color signal without a quantization errors.

  • Publication number: 20060132619
Abstract: An image-capturing apparatus correcting nonlinear images includes an optical device for converting an input image to have nonlinear characteristics over light intensity; an image sensor for converting the input image having the nonlinear characteristics into an electric signal; a correction unit for correcting the electric signal to obtain a signal having linear characteristics over the light intensity; a converter for converting the corrected signal into a digital signal; and a signal-processing unit for processing the converted digital signal to be displayed as an output image. Thus, if the optical device having the nonlinear characteristics extends a dynamic range of the image sensor, an output having nonlinear characteristics over light intensity is corrected to have linear characteristics, so the resolution of the image can be improved.

  • Publication number: 20060132630
Abstract: An image sensing device with a wide dynamic range by using an optical limiter, and an image pickup apparatus using the same. The image sensing device includes an optical limiter for converting an input image into a non-linear image at an intensity greater than a threshold intensity, and an image sensor for converting the non-linear input image into an electrical signal. By forming the optical limiter capable of outputting a non-linear image with respect to the intensity of light on the image pickup surface of the image sensor, the dynamic range of the image sensing device can be expanded without using a separate device.

  • Publication number: 20060125842
Abstract: An image interpolation device and method of preventing aliasing. The image interpolation device to prevent aliasing includes an aliased-region detection part to detect a region where aliasing occurs based on the magnitudes and signs of high-frequency components RH, GH, and BH at pixels of n2-times-density R, G, and B images, and an anti-aliasing-processing part to perform an anti-aliasing operation on the detected aliased-region and to restore a captured image of an object from the n2-times-density RGB image having the detected aliased-region. The device can restore an image signal identical to an object image signal from a distorted signal that results from the aliasing. Therefore, the device can enhance the high-frequency components of an image without overshoots and undershoots, can reduce color errors, and can enhance color contrast.

  • Publication number: 20050280850
Abstract: A color signal processing apparatus calculates a target color gamut including color signal values of each pixel of an input video, and calculates target primary colors corresponding to the calculated target color gamut. The color signal processing apparatus produces the calculated target primary colors by mixing primary colors in an input color gamut of the input video, and converts and outputs the color signal values of each pixel of the input video to match the calculated target color gamut defined by the calculated target primary colors.
