  • Patent number: 8414687
Abstract: A method for removing particulate matter from a particulate-bearing gas stream includes flowing a particulate-bearing gas stream at a first volumetric flow rate to a plurality of ESP units; producing electrically charged particulate matter; collecting electrically charged particulate matter on collection electrode plates; reducing the flow through at least one of the ESP units; sequentially increasing the flow through one or more remaining ESP units in an amount so as to maintain the sum of flow through all of the ESP units at the first volumetric flow rate; subjecting the collection electrode plates in the at least one ESP unit with reduced flow to forces which dislodge the particulate matter from the collection electrode plates; collecting the dislodged particulate matter in a particulate collection receptacle; and withdrawing a gas stream of reduced particulate matter contamination.

  • Publication number: 20130048541
Abstract: Additive particles for use in a fluid catalytic cracking system are provided for reducing the opacity of flue gas that is generated from a regenerator within the system. Particles are supplied to the unit to catalyze the cracking of hydrocarbon feeds, and to react with sulfur oxides that are produced during regeneration of catalysts supplied for the cracking reactions. At least a portion of the supplied particles include active particulates and a binder, with at least a portion of the active particulates being in a size range from 0.5 to 40 microns.

  • Patent number: 5425268
Abstract: A continuous vapor sensor is assembled within a partially open protective enclosure which restricts (but does not exclude) the entry of liquid and means for excluding liquid from a portion of the enclosure, such as a non-wetting attachment material. The assembly allows the use of a continuous sensor which is adversely impacted by liquid contact in locations where the assembly may be immersed. The enclosure traps a sufficient amount of vapor to maintain a minimum vapor volume when the enclosure is submerged to a significant depth below a water level. The means for excluding controls the location of the minimum vapor volume to protect the sensor.
