  • Patent number: 9297277
Abstract: A power plant is provided and includes components for generating power from fluids at high and intermediate pressures, a pathway defined between the components along which a heated fluid flows to the one of the components for generating power from fluids at intermediate pressures and a circuit fluidly coupled to the pathway to cool a portion of the heated fluid prior to the portion of the heated fluid reaching the one of the components for generating power from fluids at intermediate pressures.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 30, 2011
Date of Patent: March 29, 2016
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Debabrata Mukhopadhyay, Abhishek Agrawal, Vishwas Kumar Pandey, Nestor Hernandez Sanchez, Donkada Santhosh
  • Patent number: 8821106
Abstract: The present application provides a rotor coupling guard for use with removing a flow of air about a rotor coupling of a turbo-machine. The rotor coupling guard may include an inner cover with a number of apertures surrounding the rotor coupling and an outer cover surrounding the inner cover. Rotation of the rotor coupling forces the flow of air through the apertures in the inner cover and away from the rotor coupling.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 16, 2010
Date of Patent: September 2, 2014
    Assignee: General Electric Company

  • Patent number: 8348280
Abstract: A seal apparatus including at least first and second adjacent seal segments, each including an elongate body with ends defined at opposing elongate body ends, to be arranged such that an end of the first seal segment joins with a complementary end of the second seal segment, the end of the first seal segment including a first male component protruding from a plane of a first seal surface to define a first female mating section about the first male component, the end of the second seal segment including a second male component protruding from a plane of a second seal surface to define a second female mating section about the second male component, the first and second male components being receivable in the second and first female mating sections, respectively, to form first and second male component overlaps in at least two dimensions.
