  • Patent number: 9042870
Abstract: Example embodiments provide a method and/or network element capable of mitigating one or more effects of operating at full capacity. According to an example embodiment, a network element may address load capacity by identifying that a first network element (e.g., a femto) is operating at a threshold capacity. If a communication from a second network element intended for the first network element is received, an operation is performed that informs the second network element of at least one of (i) that the first network element is operating at a threshold capacity and (ii) that the communication cannot be delivered to the first network element while the first network element is operating at a threshold capacity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 17, 2009
Date of Patent: May 26, 2015
    Assignee: Alcatel Lucent
Inventors: John K. Burgess, Donna M. Sand, Robin J. Thompson, Ruth Schaefer Gayde

  • Publication number: 20110106958
Abstract: Example embodiments are directed to a system for providing wireless services to a first user on the system after a handoff from a first mobile switching center to a second mobile switching center. The system includes a first application server configured to provide wireless services and coupled to the second mobile switching center. The second mobile switching center serves the first user. A second application server is configured to provide wireline services and interact with the second application server to provide the wireless and wireline services to the first user.

  • Patent number: 7457638
Abstract: An apparatus in one example has: at least a first network of a first predetermined type and at least a second network of a predetermined type; at least one mobile terminal movable between the first and second networks; at least one gateway operatively coupled to each of the first and second networks; and at least one message that communicates via the gateway at least feature data of the mobile terminal from one of the first and second networks to the other of the first and second networks.

  • Patent number: 6108321
Abstract: An interference based dynamic channel assignment scheme for a wireless communication network, for self configuring dynamic channel assignment of a plurality of channels, comprises the steps of: prioritizing a channel list and prioritizing a selected subset of the prioritized channel list. In further enhancements of the present invention, prioritizing a channel list is distributed on a per cell/sector basis so that prioritization is independent of frequency usage information from other cells/sectors and prioritization is based upon uplink and downlink characteristics.
