Publication number: 20240128700Abstract: A system for attaching electrical terminals to wires includes a wire guide cassette removably affixed to a crimping tool, the wire guide cassette movable between at least a closed position and an open position, wherein in the open position, an end terminal may be inserted through a wire guide orifice and into the crimping tool. In the closed position, a wire may be inserted into the wire guide orifice and into the end terminal. The wire guide cassette locates and aligns the wire for insertion into the end terminal in the closed position, wherein the crimping tool may then be used to crimp the end terminal onto the wire. The wire guide cassette may then be opened, and the wire and end terminal crimped to the wire may be removed from the wire guide cassette and tool.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 10, 2023Publication date: April 18, 2024Inventor: Douglas A. Patent number: 11289867Abstract: A wire guide system includes a wire guide tool assembly mounted to a die of a press automatically connecting an electrical terminal to a wire subassembly. An upper wire guide has a hemispherical shaped upper wire guide portion. A lower wire guide has a hemispherical shaped lower wire guide portion. The upper wire guide moves reciprocally to the lower wire guide. The hemispherical shaped upper and lower wire guide portions when the upper wire guide contacts the lower wire guide combine to temporarily define a conical wire guide aligned with a terminal barrel of the electrical terminal. A lifter is slidably received in the lower wire guide. The lifter displaces a terminal barrel of the electrical terminal away from contact with the lower wire guide after the electrical terminal is crimped to the wire subassembly, providing clearance to automatically remove the wire subassembly from the wire guide tool assembly.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2019Date of Patent: March 29, 2022Assignee: Odyssey Tool, LLCInventors: Douglas A. Patent number: 10290989Abstract: An electrical terminal applicator system includes a die connected to a press. A one-piece member including a stock guide portion is homogeneously connected to a tool receiving portion. The one-piece member is releasably secured to the die using a first fastener. A male member extends from the one-piece member, and a female slot is created in the die slidably receiving the male member to permit the one-piece member to be horizontally positioned on the die prior to securing the one-piece member using the single fastener. A tool assembly having a tool mount block is movable to a desired position. The tool assembly is releasably secured to the tool receiving portion using a second fastener after positioning the tool assembly in the desired position.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2017Date of Patent: May 14, 2019Assignee: Odyssey Tool, LLCInventors: Douglas A. Patent number: 5344348Abstract: An electrical connector has a generally closed rectangular receptacle for receiving a tab. The rectangular receptacle is formed without an opening along any of its sides in order to maintain the integrity of the rectangular receptacle during numerous insertions and withdrawals of the tab. A tongue is provided within the receptacle to aid in the retention of the tab as well as insuring electrical contact between the two members. A pair of locking projections are also provided within the receptacle. The locking projections are designed to deflect during the insertion of the tab and to spring into a corresponding pair of recesses in the tab to aid in the retention of the tab within the receptacle.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1993Date of Patent: September 6, 1994Assignee: Clements Manufacturing Company, Inc.Inventors: Lowell R.
