  • Patent number: 5180260
Abstract: A adjustable chamfering reamer used in automated threading machines for reaming the ends of pipe or conduit. The adjustable chamfering reamer has an inner reamer insert adjustably installed within a generally cylindrical outer sleeve. The front of the outer sleeve has circumferentially spaced forwardly extending projections with a flat inwardly and rearwardly angled reaming surface and a trip shoulder at the bottom thereof. The inner reamer insert has a trunched conical forward end defined by a plurality of circumferentially spaced longitudinal wings extending rearwardly and outwardly from the forward end and the exterior of the wings are curved reaming surfaces. When assembled, the wings are positioned between the projections of the outer sleeve in alternating relation. When viewed from the side, the overlapped reaming surfaces and shoulders form a plurality of rearwardly extending flat-bottom V-shaped grooves.

  • Patent number: 4995301
Abstract: A fixture for holding and positioning reamers and other objects for grinding has a support base connectable to a flat horizontal surface and its upper portion is positioned at an angle relative to the horizontal surface. A cylindrical sleeve rotatably mounted on the upper portion of the support base has an eccentric longitudinal bore and a radial flange at its rearward end. A cylindrical spindle rotatably received within the eccentric bore has a mounting flange at its forward end to receive a chuck for holding an object to be ground and a rear flange adjacent the sleeve radial flange. A handle extending from the sleeve rotates the sleeve about its longitudinal axis. An axial guide flange between the support base and sleeve moves the sleeve forward or rearward upon rotation of the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4930946
Abstract: A chamfering reamer for reaming the inside diameter of pipe or conduit comprises a generally cylindrical body having a truncated conical forward end to be received within the inside diameter of a pipe or conduit and a rearward end adapted to be secured in a chaser holder of a threading machine and a plurality of longitudinal flutes extending rearwardly from the forward end defining a plurality of circumferentially spaced longitudinal wings. Each wing has a conical reaming portion to ream the interior diameter at the end of the pipe or conduit and a conical trip shoulder extending from the conical reaming portion to the outer surface of each wing to activate the chaser holder to release the chamfered piece and provide clearance between the end surface of the pipe or conduit being reamed.
