Publication number: 20240081479Abstract: An anti-slip footwear that can be used with an omnidirectional locomotion system or other virtual reality (VR) environment technology includes at least a sole layer and a rotatable traction portion. The sole layer includes an upper surface and a lower surface, wherein the lower surface includes one or more friction reducing elements having a first coefficient of friction with a platform of an omnidirectional treadmill. The rotatable traction portion is rotatably coupled to the lower surface of the sole layer and has a first face and a second face opposite from the first face. The first face includes one or more friction pads each having a second coefficient of friction with the platform of the omnidirectional treadmill that is greater than the first coefficient of friction. The rotatable traction portion can be rotated to a first, low-friction position in which the second face makes contact with a ground surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 13, 2022Publication date: March 14, 2024Applicant: Virtuix Holdings Inc.Inventors: Jan GOETGELUK, Ronald Kurt BENDER, James Douglas SHUFFIELD

Patent number: 7787134Abstract: Systems and techniques for laser metrology. Two or more fanned probe beams are scanned relative to a surface including one or more targets. A position detection module receives return beam information from the fanned probe beams, and determines a position of at least a first target of the one or more targets based on the return beam information.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2006Date of Patent: August 31, 2010Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Kirk Kohnen, Peter J. Sedivec, Douglas Bender, Gregory S. Becker, John Y. Liu, Richard W. Guthrie, Ketao Liu, Ray McVey, Mark A. Lundgren

Patent number: 7547870Abstract: One or more fixed-orientation fanned laser beams and one or more displacement measurement devices to precisely measure the orientation of a payload platform are disclosed in a metrology system and method. The measurement devices may be distributed at locations across a payload platform such that displacement changes of these devices can be used to accurately determine platform pointing. Laser beam transmitters may be fixed in the same reference block to which a spacecraft attitude sensor is mounted. Fanned laser beams are transmitted from these sources to the measurement devices so that their displacements can be determined with respect to the plane of the fanned beams and thereby with respect to the spacecraft attitude sensor. Only a small number of fixed laser beams are needed to achieve precision measurements at a reduced cost, weight and power, and with increased system reliability and simplified system integration.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2006Date of Patent: June 16, 2009Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Ketao Liu, Gregory S. Becker, Peter J. Sedivec, Douglas Bender

Patent number: 7450251Abstract: Systems and techniques for laser metrology. A system may include a laser source and a fanning apparatus configured to generate a fanned laser beam. The fanned laser beam may be scanned across the surface of an object, and may reflect off a plurality of targets positioned on the surface. A position detection module may determine a position of the metrology targets based on the reflected beam.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2005Date of Patent: November 11, 2008Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Ketao Liu, Peter J. Publication number: 20080025291Abstract: A voice over IP (VoIP) softphone access module (VSAM) comprises a softphone client installed on a portable memory device (PMD). The softphone client is installed in its own read-only partition. The softphone client is adapted to autorun from the PMD when the PMD is connected to a computing device and to load an instance of the softphone client in the volatile memory of the computing device. When used with a computing device comprising a duplex audio system with analog-to-digital conversion and an Internet connection, the VSAM permits a VoIP service subscriber to send and receive VoIP telephone calls through a VoIP service provider gateway. The VSAM may be associated with an activation code that when sent to the VoIP service provider gateway associates a user with pre-paid softphone usage credits. Alternatively, the softphone client is installed on CD.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 3, 2007Publication date: January 31, 2008Applicant: I2 Telecom International, Inc.Inventors: Robb Barkley, Mark Baker, Douglas Bender
