  • Publication number: 20140179645
Abstract: Described herein are antimicrobial compositions, methods of making thereof, a kit comprising said compositions, and methods for removing microorganisms from surfaces by using said compositions. In one aspect, the antimicrobial composition is a kit composed of a first composition that comprises a dissolved metal salt and a second composition that comprises a ligand, wherein the ligand comprises (i) a residue of antibacterial agent and (ii) a residue of an antifungal agent, wherein the antibacterial agent and/or antifungal agent comprises at least one aryl group. These compositions can further comprise (a) surfactants and/or emulsifiers, (b) thickeners, and (c) solvents or carriers such as water, propylene glycol, and glycerin. In some aspects, these compositions can also comprise fragrances, humectants, emollients, essential oils, plant extracts, and other natural products. • Publication number: 20120321764
Abstract: A method of ensuring that meat has been adequately cooked to doneness, wherein a substrate, such as a foil, film, fabric, laminate, label, card, or paper, having a thermo-sensitive color-forming coating thereon, is placed onto meat pieces such that cooking causes the coating to change color at a predetermined temperate. Said color-forming coating is comprised of ingredients generally recognized as safe as food additives or as food colorants by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), or as materials FDA-approved for food contact. A further embodiment of this invention relates to labels that visibly change color, or produce a visible image or code, which may be used to determine if a product has been exposed to a given temperature.

  • Publication number: 20120199061
Abstract: A method and apparatus for improving the optical boundary between a person's fingerprint ridges and the surface platen of a live-scan imaging apparatus, which includes providing an absorbent pad containing chemicals selected from the nonvolatile, non-fatty alkyl esters of benzoic, salicylic, and anthranilic acids; benzyl alcohol and its non-fatty alkanoic acid esters and esters of benzoic, salicylic, and anthranilic acids and ethers of non-fatty alkyl esters; and the non-fatty alkanoic acid triesters of glycerol, placing the person's finger to be scanned on the surface of the absorbent pad to coat the fingerprint ridges and subsequently placing the person's finger with the coated fingerprint ridges on the imaging apparatus to provide a high contrast between the ridges and valleys of the fingerprint area and a high resolution of the fingerprint ridge details.
