  • Patent number: 4867716
Abstract: The present invention includes a boat having a pair of rotatable elongated pontoons on opposite sides thereof. Each of the pontoons has helical flighting for propelling the boat during rotation of the pontoon. The pontoon also is filled with floatation materials so as to add to the buoyancy of the vehicle. Each pontoon is independently rotatable so as to achieve maneuverability even without a rudder.A modified form of the present invention utilizes two independently rotatable paddle wheels.

  • Patent number: 4773220
Abstract: The present invention is a hydraulic transmission comprising a power input shaft, a variable displacement pump connected to and driven by the input shaft, a fixed displacement motor having a motor output shaft, a power take-off shaft, and an intermediate shaft. The intermediate shaft is connected between the power input shaft and the power take-off shaft for transmitting rotational movement directly therebetween. The intermediate shaft also includes first and second bores extending longitudinally therethrough and providing hydraulic connections from the variable displacement pump to the fixed displacement motor so as to permit the pump to drive the motor. Thus, the power input shaft drives the power take-off shaft directly and drives the motor output shaft by virtue of the hydraulic connection between the pump and the motor.

  • Patent number: 4757740
Abstract: Cylindrically arranged barrels include feeder rods connected to a wobble plate for reciprocally moving shells into a firing position. A back pressure seal sleeve may be positioned on the feeder rods. The sleeves include a forwardly tapering wall thickness whereby combustion pressures press the tapered wall sealingly against the feeder rods. An alternative sealing arrangement includes cut-off pins for each barrel which reciprocate transversely of the barrel in timed relation with the feeder pins. A cam rotates with a power shaft connected to the wobble plate and a nonrotating housing is positioned on the cam and is connected through linkage elements to the cut-off pins.

  • Patent number: 4557140
Abstract: A gauge for determining power of an internal combustion engine is connected to the governor of the engine so as to directly measure the performance of the engine. The governor, which is also in communication with the engine throttle system, regulates the speed of the engine. The gauge includes a housing, a facing mounted within the housing and calibrated in units of horsepower, and an indicator needle pivotally mounted within the housing and being responsive to movement of the governor arm so as to indicate on the calibrated facing the power developed by the engine or the fuel consumed by the engine.

  • Patent number: 4473763
Abstract: A solenoid motor comprising a crankshaft with a plurality of solenoid means positioned adjacent thereto. Each solenoid means comprises a cylindrical core with an electrical coil wound therearound. A piston means is slidably mounted in each of said cores and is longitudinally movably responsive to the polarity of the coils. Connecting rods are pivotally connected by their opposite ends to the piston means and the crankshaft. An electrical control means is operatively connected to the coils to sequentially control the electrical polarity of the coils wherein longitudinal movement of the piston means is sequentially induced to impart rotational motion to the crankshaft.

  • Patent number: 4278896
Abstract: A wind power generator comprising a vertically disposed support post having a support assembly rotatably mounted thereon which extends horizontally laterally therefrom. A plurality of vertically spaced rotor assemblies are rotatably mounted on the support assembly and are connected to an electrical generator so that electrical energy is generated as the rotors are rotated by wind. A wind deflector is mounted on each of the rotor assemblies for directing the wind towards to the rotor blades at a more efficient angle. The deflector also shields a portion of the rotor blades so that the wind is prevented from inhibiting the rotation of the rotor assembly. The rotor assemblies are maintained in a direction facing the wind by means of an adjustable stabilizer assembly.

  • Patent number: 4237834
Abstract: A governor for controlling the speed of a drive shaft comprising a flywheel mounted to a revolving drive shaft by a pair of diametrically opposed pins extending through the flywheel, along a diametrical line of the flywheel, and being respectively received by two oppositely disposed spiral slots along the cylindrical wall of the drive shaft. The flywheel and pins are slidably mounted to the drive shaft such that an increase or decrease in the speed of revolution of the drive shaft will cause the pins to move along the shaft in the slots and the flywheel to traverse along the axis of rotation of the drive shaft. Mechanical linkage is connected to the flywheel so that the movement of the flywheel will engage or disengage a friction clutch drive assembly operatively associated to the drive shaft, or alternatively, will control the rate of flow of fuel to an engine operatively connected to the drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 4042140
Abstract: A trailer includes a tongue which may be pivoted from a center position to either side by operation of one of the brakes on the ground support wheels. A L-shaped loading fork is provided at the forward end pivotal from a position where the forwardly extending legs of the fork move under the bale to a position where they extend upwardly and the other legs extend rearwardly along the trailer frame. A pair of conveyors are provided along the length of the frame for moving the hay from one end to the other and for unloading the hay. An unloading apparatus is provided at the rear end which includes oppositely disposed upstanding posts having vertically pivotal arms to which are connected horizontally disposed stub shafts for engaging the bale at its axial center. The bale is rotated by engagement with a conveyor on its lower side thereby unrolling it as it is rotated.

  • Patent number: 4037692
Abstract: A fluid coupling comprising a cylindrical housing having first and second vane supports secured to the opposite ends thereof. An input shaft is secured to the first vane support so that rotation of the input shaft causes rotation of the first and second vane supports and the housing. An output shaft rotatably extends through the second vane support into the interior of the housing and has a clutch support mounted thereon within said housing for rotation therewith. The housing has a first fluid compartment between the inner end of the first vane support and one end of the clutch support. The housing also has a second fluid compartment between the inner end of the second vane support and the clutch support.
